  • Yesterday - figured out how to bolt in my new Recaros (think we can put the back seat in buy ourselves). Decided to retrim the door cards, spent a while in Spotlight picking out fabric, decided on a black/blue tartan. Will be starting the gluing process tonight

    • New rocker cover gasket and rubber seals going on tonight....

mechanic told me my oil pressure switch was spewing oil, as it was running down the side of the block..

I pressure washed the engine and it is the rocker cover gasket, switch is fine.

Bloody mechanics, I have been in QLD for 2.5 years now and not found one decent one.

Can anyone help me find someone who is at least
      • Competent
      • charges fairly.

          • towed the project to Midas (for new infill piece for extractors to existing system) to be told I need to wrap them to avoid heat issues with the steering rack boot and also fouling with the body.....

then towed it home again...and pulled it apart to rectify....

(did a few other things and picked up a couple of rare bargains at the VWCV Swap....funny thing, some of the 'unusual characters' of 20 years ago in Air-cooled scene are still around......)

              • 1. Adjusted the rear drums and handbrake.
                2. Realigned the washer switch on the column so it would work properly again.

                Quiet weekend

cool, am keen to do some suspension work on my cabrio. I'm dreaming of a Golf Workshop Christmas with new bearings brake pads, discs, shoes, reprofiled drums, suspension and maybe some tyres once all the dirty work is done!

yeh Preeny's old engine needs AT LEAST a DGAV Weber.

preferrably a 45 DCOE, or bigger!

If your running a stock carb on that donk your choking the life out of it!

Yea, pretty much. Just so you know, we're not having a go at you or anything, just trying to help you get the best out of your new engine!

This is from Preeny's 16V thread. (yes it's about his old engine that you've got now)
