  • BKD Engine diiferences???

Had the turbo blow in my Late 2006 MKV TDI last week.
Sourced a low k BKD engine from a 02/2009 MKV so was just going to do a complete engine swap.
So the engine turns up this morning but the inlet manifold is the plastic type, mine has the alloy type.
Just wondering if anyone knows if it is a straight bolt in with the plastic manifold or
if I need to swap them?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Straight swap, VW moved to nylon inlets to both lower costs and drop heat transfer. You sure the 2009 engine is still PD MKV?? Can you post pic of top?

      Hey Greg,
      yeah it's a PD engine.
Sorry for the confusion, the car was complied 02/2009 but was built 05/2008.
Thanks for confirming it's a straight bolt in.

          around 198,000.
engine is fine and I have never had a problem with it other then the turbo going.
I was going to just get a new turbo but I got this engine with turbo, DMF (which was starting to go) so I'll just replace the lot.

Anyone close to Lake Macquarie/Newcastle have a BKD cam locking kit for a timing belt change?

My turbo went also at 192k. I have the same engine. Whacked another turbs and intercooler on there and good as gold. I was going to go down your route with replacement engine but until something breaks internally, I figured there was just no point throwing $ away.

I have a timing belt kit coming tomorrow and I am going to try and fit the engine over the weekend.
Let me know if you can get it.

I got an engine with 90,000 k's on it with a turbo, good dmf (which need replacing also) for a price that I couldn't even find a second hand turbo for.
I have a work shop (where I work) with a hoist so an engine swap isn't a big deal.
