We were re-flashing them way back before it became a campaign, as per one of the tech bulletins about the injector replacement.

Would be worth looking into. Best call the dealership who did the work, and ask them if your car was re-flashed.

If a Volkswagen Dealer royally **** up and their workmanship is a complete mess you have an invoice and a list of works they have done which they are liable for.
So dealerships have never told a customer to go away, even after they have screwed up their cars?
As you said, people are suckers, in this case though, its just you.

I just phoned Barloworld Mascot about mine & they said the recall didnt effect mine, I asked whether they reflash the ecu if they had to do the work & he said yes.
You never know though.. they say yes & I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt.

Wish we had have been advised by VW of this 'campaign' before the engine of my 2008 GT TDI Golf cut out whilst travelling along a QLD freeway at night doing 110k's. No warning, just stopped. Extremely lucky to be able to get the car off the road and avoid being side swiped. Car was towed to nearest mechanic and even though we called VW they were not forthcoming about this campaign. They did not provide any information until I searched online for mechanical failures, as I couldn't believe that a Golf that had only done 75,000, had been log booked serviced regularly that the injectors would fail. It was only when I rang VW Australia with the campaign number that they confirmed that yes this car was one of many with the faulty injectors. They also confirmed that they have been recalled in other countries but not Australia as that was up to VW in Germany. They are not informing owners of the vehicles but will look at them when you bring them in for servicing. Our last major service was in Oct last year and its next service is not due for another 5000k's. The last service was performed at a recommended European car service centre and they had not been informed of this campaign either. So it seems that if you do not get your car serviced by a VW dealership you will not know of the 'campaign' and will possibly be left $800 poorer like me I am just so pleased that I was driving the car that day and not my wife and that the kids were not in the car. It's great that VW will fix known faults at there costs but how about being proactive and inform owners of the possible faults so that dangerous situations and out of pocket expenses can be avoided. We are not alone, VW Aust confirmed that this is an ongoing issue and maybe in the future they will consider a re-call......that's great VW, what will it take, a few more near misses or a direct hit????

Unfortunately yes it will come down to something like a major accident before its officially a recall. Probably not even then. Its financial better to just address the cars that have issues or owners that ask rather than recall every single Golf made.

A lot in the media now, even on ABC. Poor on the part of VW Australia to act now once the coronal inquiry is being conducted.

Does anyone know what 103kw TDI is effected.
I was under the impression only the 125kw but the heading suggests 103kw as well ,

                      thanks.

Apparently it has something to do with the DSG gearbox and not the injectors in the 125kw, even though the injectors are also mentioned as another issue.

My injectors have been replaced under warranty and I chose the right gearbox.

I might call them up about the MK2.

Well the reporter from The Age that just interviewed me over the phone said that the head of VW has agreed to send out a letter to all diesel cars affected. I assume this will only be to the Siemens 125kw crew as she mentioned numbers of about 4000 cars. Be interesting to see how that letter allows the ACCC to give people who have paid for replacement injectors the ability to seek compensation, as happened in the UK and other euro countries last year.
