clutch - totally agree. Intercooler - I think the stock unit should be fine really - unless the plastic end tanks cause problems.Originally posted by thealienfromuranus View PostYou might need a uprated intercooler and clutch to handle 130KW reliably. Intake temps can get very high without propper cooling'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension

Yes, I was very surprised by the large size of the Octavia's intercooler compared to the tiny SMIC in the Golf MkIV and Polo. I'm betting the Golf MkV with the 1.9PD also has the big intercooler.Resident grumpy old fart

yup, that and the caddy. The cool (no pun I swear) thing being that an S3 intercooler will bolt straight in if you want an upgradeOriginally posted by kaanage View PostYes, I was very surprised by the large size of the Octavia's intercooler compared to the tiny SMIC in the Golf MkIV and Polo. So does anyone know the power/torque limit for our connecting rods, especially if 4000rpm is regularly hit?Resident grumpy old fart

I dont think rpm is any issue. The main danger is lots of boost and fuel at very low rpm (like if you are hitting 30-35psi at or below 2000rpm)
to give you an idea of the rod strength for rpm - I've seen video of a guy re3vving a 1.9D (like the cabby's engine) out to 7000rpm on a drag racing setup.... tdi rods
never get those rpms out of a tdi though - you need IDI for that

I read somewhere that 300 bhp was the limit for our rods so with my plans, I'll be safe

Thinking exhaust pretty soon....
Was crawling around under the Skoda the other day, and theres just soo much room under there (since the body is ready for 4-mo system if required) that I thought... why not go 3" just for fun

Sounds like a plan! Not afraid that 3" is a touch large? Compressor outlet is probably only 2" no?Originally posted by gldgti View PostThinking exhaust pretty soon....

turbo outlet is not even 2".... but doesnt matter really. I still have a bunch of 2.5" flanges and a couple of bends, so I might make the downpipe 2.5" and the rest 3". I dont think it would be too large - with turbo-diesels the general consensus is that you can't go too bigOriginally posted by Jarred View PostSounds like a plan! Not afraid that 3" is a touch large? I will try to find the video later and post it

ordered more exhausty bits (flanges etc) today from laser cutters in 2.5"... can't be bothered with the 3"
Also ordered myself some 1.9 PD intake flanges so I can make up an egr valve replacement/race pipe in stainless. I've ordered 4 flanges so if anyone wants a custom race pipe, nows your chance
