Thanks guys. I've been busy prepping the last car for sale so once I get this one out of the drive I'll hopefully have some more time to spend on the Roc.

There's a few small things planned:

    - front number plate mount removal
    - custom plate
    - fabric protection

Still undecided on what to do with the protection on the paint. I had Opticoat on the last car but wasn't 100% convinced it was the ultimate solution as it stopped beading after ~6 months and even with a decontamination it only lasted a short time. I also got quite a few stone chips on the front bumper (not that this was an issue with the Opticoat) due to country driving.

Thinking on spending the $ on a clear bra this time around however they are pretty pricey. After discussion with the vinyl wrap guys it looks like it's probably going to be better/cheaper to leave it and just repaint the bar when I go to sell the car if it's been hammered with stone chips. Also the edges of the film do tend to pick up road grime and need regular maintenance.

So thinking maybe just a good wax/polish every 3-6 months may be the way to go this time around... Anyone have thought on this given that a fair few km are going to be put on doing country driving.

Yeh i dont believe in the paint coatings. The VW's have good quality paint so as long as you wash the car correctly and give it a light polish and wax once or twice a year you are golden.

What tuning device/software is that. A new DIY option?

It's a dealer kit that I'm "borrowing" - includes both DSG and ECU cables.

Anyone in Adelaide need a tune give me a shout out

Excellent result for just a stage 1 tune and on such a new engine too.

Yes I was really happy with the result. My car even beat a stage2+ Scirocco with every hardware mod except turbo:

The owner of this car is now seriously scratching his head. But at least he knows now and can do something about it. Which is the whole point of these dyno days.

There were a number of people that came away with some really useful data. RS3 with stage 1 tune got heat soak really badly. Dropped 10kW each run so I think he's already organised himself a bigger intercooler.

Interesting - what tune was on the other Roc?

Other tune was a custom ECU and DSG tune at a local dyno centre. The owner has since spoken to Simon at RD Technik and I think he's getting sorted (should have made ~25-30kwaw more). He had fairly extensive mods list: r8 coil packs, ngk colder plugs gapped to 0.5mm, hpfp, rs4 relief valve, turbo restrictor delete (custom2.5" outlet pipe to intercooler), big intercooler, ramair CAI with pod filter, 3" turbo back exhaust with no cat and only rear muffler, forge catch can, so essentially no restriction on intake or exhaust sides and as much fuelling as required.

To say that he was a little unimpressed being topped by car with stock hardware is a bit of an understatement... But it also does show how much development has gone into the RD Technik software.

                            Tigger73's Scirocco

This morning I installed my full-size spare. Picked up a second-hand turbine wheel off a Passat with right size/rating tyre.

Removed the standard foam insert and lined the floor with carpet:

Put wheel in and carpet back in. At some stage I'll probably get myself a piece of Masonite and some more carpet to redo the floor at the new height so it fits around the edges a bit better.

Nice result on the dyno there, Damien

                              Which tune are you running?

(Obviously much better than Rd Technik)

Sharkie I'm running the RD Technik tune and the stage2+ car with $10k hardware mods has a custom dyno tune.

The stage 2+ car is now looking to switch to RD Technik as he should be getting 230+kwaw with his mods.
