  • Water Pump Recall

So I just took my Scirocco R in for its 30k service and was informed that there was a water pump recall.
The service centre was pretty light on details. Just said notification had come down from VW Aus to do the work.
Has anyone else had this? Does anyone have any more details as to what the issue actually is?
I checked the vehicle recall website and nothing is listed there.

I think a few guys on here had reported failing water pumps in these and Golf Rs.

Might be related to that, so best get it booked in and taken care of.

My water pump failed in june this year ( 100,926km ), one day after a 2,000 km quick trip back from Mt Gambier, talk about lucky. The dealer was very good about it and replaced it and the timing belt under warranty with no quibbles at all.

just called VW, chasing it up for me as it wasn't flagged in the system for my car (2012). cheers for the heads up.

in more alarming news VW want over $500 for the 45k service. no wonder I stopped going with them.

I think the recall or 'campaign' as VW call will come out soon. I had a few things fixed on Scirocco R before my 3yr warrantee expired (rattling fuel lines and worn front seat side edge). Replace water pump. Once the parts arrive they contact me and they said it will be a 2 day job and they will need the car over night

Interesting to find this, apologies for hijacking the thread but how reliable are your Rocco's guys?

I'm looking at a 2014 with low kms to replace my Focus ST due to a knee injury that occured last month (left knee is shot to **** for more than 12 weeks).
