  • Really? I've had my car for almost 2 years now, and the tint is still perfect and I'd still use and recommend Rob only because he has such a high standard of work. I've never had an issue with the factory tint on the rear either.
MY12 Scirocco R - slightly not stock

    • I've got an Octavia RS wagon coming early next year and would like Rob to do it, but still hear he doesn't like doing them. I live out his way and got him to do my Santa Fe in 2011 no probs but was wondering if there is someone else here who would do it. Robs issue is that he takes the trims off, most don't.

      • Front Windows Tinted

        Got mine done last week
Mastertint at Underwood - they have done 4 of my cars and about 5 of my sons
Colour match - Hmmmmmmmm not sure yet - still thinking about it
Choice was slight blue tinge or charcoal I think he called it - anyway greyish
He recommended the grey so that's the way I went
If you look closely you CAN see a slight colour difference but it doesn't rip your eyes out - have to be looking for it
from inside you don't notice it and it looks great from outside
Anyway for $100 I'm not going to change it

Didnt take any "before" photos - well not side ones anyway .... DUH
Just turned 3000kms old since January this year
Magic car - would hate to be in the situation as others on here looking for the next car to replace the Rocc
It is a hard act to follow - very big shoes to fill to use some well used clichés but very true .... IHMO of course

        • looks good from the photos.
yes it is a very hard act to follow when attempting to replace the Rocco, it still looks awesome and someone else asked me what it was last Friday. So many comments from people even after 3 years. I'm torn on what to do but i'll need brakes, 2 new tyres and i have a 'fault code in evap canister & N80 valve'.
Someone on the Whirlpool forums described the look of the Rocco as a 'squashed breadvan'! Personal opinion i guess.

            Why not a new MY16 Rocc ???
We also have a Fiat 500 TwinAir and I watch the Fiat forum -
in the UK it seems very often they trade the old 3 year old 500 on a new 500 - it is a "cult" car as much as the Rocc.
Some couples have one each - like "his" and "hers" 500s.

Been quite a few changes since you got yours - (for me) the icing on the cake is the 3 gauges - particularly the boost gauge.
Although must admit that I have no use for the lap timer
Saw your post on another thread, the resale seems good - depreciation about 12% per year compared to about 15% on a Commodore

They probably couldn't afford one or had too many kids to fit in the back
Got nothing against kids - got 5 of my own, all grown up now so I could have bought a 2 seater
But I love squashed breadvans !!

BTW - how did you go with the scrape ??

            • I tend to move onto something else once I've had one model, have got a few idea's but will need to convince the finance manager at home
the scrape annoys me as they have scratched the alloy and also the rear bumper and left a mark on the main body of the car which I can't seem to polish out. It needs some work at the body shop, would like to get a few of the stone chips fixed up at the same time but can't get the time to leave it with a shop so they can address it

              • For those that had there windows tinted, did they need to remove any trims to perform the job and if so did you get any trim rattles or loose fitment (e.g. broken clips etc.) in the trims after the fact?

I'm thinking about getting some tinting done but and bit concerned about needing the trims to be removed to get a proper tint job done 🤔

                Any input is much appreciated.

                Cheers,

                  Hi Andy
Had mine done about 12 months back - only the front (door) windows
Discussed the "process" before I let them loose
Guy said that they over-ride a position switch that allows the window to extend further out
Guess that allows then to work below the normal "closed" position
As far as I know they did not remove the door cards or any trim at all
                  Cheers
                  Chris

                  • ^ Thanks for the input Chris...

Yeah I'd definitely be discussing the process with them beforehand.

Never heard about overriding a position switch, will have to try do more research on this.

                    Cheers,

                    Andy

                    • Just had my 2 front windows tinted today. If you open the front doors and then stick your finger in the latch mechanism on the door, the glass will extend to the "fully closed" position. That way when they put the tint on they can get right to the bottom without having to remove any trims.

Job took 40 minutes and the guy used a heat gun on the bottom to cure it quicker than normal to make sure that the film didn't move when you open/close the doors. General rule is not to move the windows for 48 hours but you can't avoid opening/closing the doors which moves it a cm each time.

I ended up going 35% (darkest legal) on the fronts so it doesn't match the privacy glass but still looks OK.
