I don't get delivery of ours to the 25th June and i decided to look around for insurance. Currently we are with Shannons and won't be staying with them once the car arrives as they quoted $1600.

AAMI $ 1100 and finally NRMA with value at $60,000 and excess $800 and Windscreen it came in at $857 and if i add it with the home and contents it comes down to $778

I'm with AAMI, new for new replacement for the first 2 years, after the 2 year mark value of $50,000.

I'm female and 26 and for the year was $630. I looked at getting my partner included as a driver but it doubled - so he can't drive it... Ever

I wonder if it's my age or the fact that it's a business vehicle...
They were also the cheapest... by several hundred dollars...
Had it re-quoted by NRMA today, ended up being just under $1200 now, because it's registered under the company. Must be dropping as more Sciroccos are being delivered.

I just checked mine...to see if it had changed and it is still the same... maybe your Suburb has improved in its rating...
Are they giving you a reduction?

                New Scirocco Insurance

                Hi guys,
My Rocco is coming at the end of the month, i have a problem with the insurance cause AAMI quoted $4500 with an excess of $1200 . Is it because of the fact that I'm still 18 or is it because it's a bloody quick car? how much does your insurance cost you?

Ummm..... while the car is obviously quick.... it is all about age..
It is pointless comparing Insurance when you are 18...
I also hope you have applied for your exemption to drive the car as it is banned for Probationary drivers on the Vic Roads Database....

                    I'll echo what Andy said.
                    1) Insurance is always going to be costly for a new car when you are under 25.
                    2) Powerful Turbo car for an 18 year old which is unlikely to have an exemption could increase the cost.

As the others stated it's all about age.

I'm 32 and as comparison got quoted $1200 for a Golf R with AAMI and premium at $500

Does the ban include international drivers too?

Are you living in Victoria with a Victorian driver's license? I'd expect if you're buying a new car and registering it in your name then you'll need an Australian driver's license. And that means the rules will apply to you.

Power to rate ratio also applies,I've seen lots of p players drive turbo cars including the golf r just don't modify your car and draw attention to yourself.

Power to weight ratio doesnt apply in this case... look up the Vic Roads database.... it says.... Banned... in bold red letters for Probational drivers...

I dont know the rules for International drivers... BUT...It might be worth checking out before shelling out around A$50K for the Rocco....

Normally if you are LIVING in an Australian State you have a minimum period to get your licence changed to that State.

If you dont and have an accident or similar you are classed as unlicensed and would have no insurance anyway.

Eg come from down south to QLD and you have 3 months to change over ( Cant find detail on QLD TMR)

Here are the rules in Victoria http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/...rsLicences.htm
