Haha.. that is just nuts... I tried CGU and the price from there was $1650 for Agreed value of $58950 (their maximum)... there seems to be no rhyme nor reason for the disparity in prices...

SO what i've done (because my finance company needs the car insured before they can pay the dealer on Wed) is executed a month by month contract with AAMI. so I've paid about $180 bux for 1 month comprehensive insurance.

My car will be delivered tomorrow so I need this in place.

When the insurers get their act together perhaps in a few weeks I'll do further shopping!

Did you try the RACV? NRMA (the NSW equivalent) is surprisingly the cheapest for me at present... even GIO were cheaper than AAMI... lol

RACV still havent got their bums into gear for online quotes.

If they havent by next week, ill give them a call to see if they are cheaper. Im yet to see RACV be cheaper with any of the cars that I used to have.

It used to be the way with NRMA as well... When I purchased my Mondeo XR5 just on 4 years ago Bingle was far and away cheapest... then AAMI then GIO and last NRMA with about 60% higher premium... now it appears to be the opposite...
In fact AAMI last year were better priced on my Mondeo than anyone... now.. their Premiums have gone through the roof.

Funny talking about AAMI... My Clio's AAMI insurance (10 years with them, second car with them as well) was up for renewal. Got quoted $970 pa. Shopped around, not much luck. I tried then AAMI's website and got a quote for $100 less. In other words, if I was a new customer, for the same car and exactly the same data I would have paid much less! Called them, explained the situation and asked for some answers. Few minutes later got an apology and a new quote for $775. Didn't hurt to ask, did it?

Anyone still looking for insurance on their new Scirocco should try Bupa (Formerly HBA). I just got a quote for $737 which was around $300 cheaper than any other quote I received. I will add that I got a multi policy discount so take this into consideration if you are going to call them.

How on earth did you get that price from AAMI? My online quote from them was around substantially more... and I am an old bugger in a half reasonable area with Max NCB.

dont know. Im 39 live in a good area, good driving record etc etc. The quote was $200 cheaper than the next best I got from the RAC in WA. my dealer finance guy told me that aami were out looking for market share at the moment. I was happy, I was budgeting for a quote closer to $1,000

Ours was $850 with windscreen cover through AAMI. They were the cheapest by at least $300

Melbourne - female (31) and male nominated drivers (33), south eastern suburbs, always garaged with no driving history issues (loss of license, drug, alcohol) etc...

I just got NRMA Insurance at $1136 per year with the following:
                            - Market Value
                            - $300 excess
                            - Windscreen cover
                            - Hire Car Cover

I thought as I have 2 years new-for-old with NRMA then I can adjust to agreed value at the 3 year mark.

Note: NRMA took into consideration mine and my wife's combined driving history with this (as we have shared insurance) and the "not at fault" accidents that have occurred over the last 5 years (1 person rear-ended one of our cars 2 years ago and NRMA could not recover funds, and 2 windscreen repairs) have gone into their "bullcrap statistic revenue raising generator" and increased our cost for this - if I was a new customer with NRMA with no at-fault accidents, I could have gotten this price for agreed-value.

They argue that statistics "prove" that people that have only experienced not-at-fault accidents are at higher risk of having at-fault accidents, so the premium goes up. Love how statistics can be bent any way you want to justify charging more money

I wonder if it's my age or the fact that it's a business vehicle...
They were also the cheapest... by several hundred dollars...
