I remember having similar issues with insurance in my late teens / early 20s - no problems getting someone to insure the car but the premiums were pretty expensive.
There were a few things that helped reduce premiums:
1. Insure the car in the name of an older driver and have yourself listed as a regular driver on the policy - much easier when I was still living with my parents during my first years of uni.
2. If you've been insured on someone else's policy previously (again in my case on my parent's policies) NRMA was willing to transfer some of their no-claim bonus when I insured cars under my own name.
3. Putting my girlfriend on the policy reduced the premiums as they decided a female driver was a lower risk, and thus the average risk on the policy was reduced. Sounded stupid (she was 2 years younger than me and thus a less experienced driver) but that's how it worked.
Congrats on being able to buy the Scirocco at such a young age, and don't stress the insurance costs - just enjoy the car.
