I usually go with the market value in the first year.
That would be the best way to do it... but with NRMA and GIO you need to contact them by phone to get a price an "market value" so I decided to use my "Purchase Price".
You also find that some finance companies get a bit upset at "market value" insurance... Wimps

Hmmm just realised my "Purchase price is just under $60K... oh well... I will sort it out in a few weeks time I guess.

problem with that is what's happening atm in VIC.

people's new VW's caught in hail storm Christmas day.

      car written off.

yes sir, new for old...we will replace in teh 1st 2 years of damage with new.

Sir, we will order your car now and you can have it in 9 months when it's built....
(alternatively, you can no longer order a 3dr Golf R - so where does that leave you?)

if that's not acceptible to you, the market value pay-out is....

Insurance companies will always look at ways of limiting their payout/claims...
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

NRMA and GIO used to be the most expensive for Full Comprehensive but on the basis of this I know where I will be insuring my baby when it gets here...

I went back and re-did the quote... and....
        $61K Agreed Value $600 excess $907.
        $61K Agreed Value $800 excess $806
        $61K Agreed Value $1000 Excess $789
So all up $118 variance for $400 change in excess.

The one thing I've noticed is that you can only select 2012 as the year? Although my car is a 2011 build 2012 complianced. ... is that a problem ?

Compliance date is classed as build date for Insurance purposes... seeing as it only goes on sale in 2012....

You must live in a dodgy area... I just did an online quote with NRMA and at $61K agreed value and $1000 excess it was $871 for the Rocco. Almost an identical price from GIO as well... none of the others I tried listed the Scirocco yet..
It was also interesting that I tried to agree to Business use but as I don't claim the GST on it the car is considered Private Use for NRMA Insurance purposes...
Oh... the NRMA price included a multi policy discount.. still it is pretty good pricing, I am paying close to those $ for my Mondeo XR5.
Yup. Unfortunately I live out in the west near some not so great suburbs.

Well I am in Penrith so the same could be said for me too... the only way I could get the premium as high as yours was to have Zero Excess.. but I am an old fart with maximum NCB so that goes in my favour.

$807 with $720 excess from AAMI with 60k agreed value.

Will wait for HBA, RACV, Real Insurance etc before making a decision. Should be able to get it cheaper.

It certainly is... When I tried AAMI it was $1170 with $720 excess and that was at $60K agreed value and I am an old fart with max NCB.
All I can say is you must live in one hell of a safe suburb to get that price....

It is all kind of weird with pricing all over the shop... I tried Budget Direct and they were very expensive based on a 3 door Golf R as they don't show Scirocco yet. I then compared Scirocco against MY12 Golf R in NRMA and for the same agreed value the Golf R was about $70 more expensive than the Scirocco... I thought it would have been the opposite given the Rocco is a Coupe.

                              Hi Guys,

New to the forum but I thought I should share my quotes with everyone as it seems insurance is all over the shop for the Rocco.

I'm 26 with a rating 1, I also live in Bendigo, VIC which may explain the variance in quotes.

                              Shannons - $1600 - $550 excess
                              RACV - $930 - $550 excess
                              AAMI - $1100 - $750 excess
                              Bendigo Bank (CGU) - $870 - $500 excess
                              YOUI - $1600 - $650 excess

At the moment Bendigo Bank is looking the goods for me personally.

                              Cheers
