Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hey wanted to share my experience with Norris VW on Brisbanes North Side who I now recommend.
Walked in with my wife who likes to play her games with the dealers, knocked 6k off the price of a Scirocco taking it down to 48k then mentioned Ill be trading in my 6r Polo for it and knocked another 10k off the price with trade-in.
Absolute bargain, pickup tomorrow from floor stock.

    • awesome work! I got a blast of a deal myself - someone pre-ordered in Viper Green, and then cancelled and lost their deposit, so I got it less their deposit! inc the BBS wheels

Just had a 3" mandrel bent exhaust fitted today! back for a retune!

      • Awesome deals, congrats guys. The car is fantastic and they are so much fun, I've had mine 5 or so months now and gives me a smile every time. They are still pretty rare so they get a lot of attention.

            • Reviving a bit of an old thread as there's some decent deals being done on the last few Sciroccos in dealer stock.

I missed out on a demo 2015 MY15 with leather and 1,500km going for $39,990 but instead picked up a 2016 MY16 with no options and 3,500km for $41k on the road. Would have really liked leather but all the MY16 cars with leather were $44k+ and I was trying to stick to a budget

In the end I think I got a very decent deal and ended up with a MY16 car with the updated infotainment system (apple carplay) so I'm happy.

If you're after a new/demo Roc, you'll need to put your skates on as the last of the stock is starting to disappear. Some dealers are stickingto their guns and trying to get a high price but there are a number out there that just need to shift these cars. Scirocco buyers market at the moment.

              • Nice deal. I recall a Viper Green (all options) one back in 2013 where the dealer wanted $62,500! I would have honestly bought another one after selling mine but there are so many other cars to try. As good as the TT is and a definite step up in interior quality I think the Scirocco has the edge on exterior design.
                Stage 1 is a must!

                • I got mine for $46k. RRP was $55k. It was brand new MY16 with no options.

                  • I reckon I got a good deal.
Rising Blue 13.5 model, dsg, 19 inch rims with perelli were stock on this model.
56km on clock. Full pre purchase inspection done by my mate Paul at Euroworks Clayton only identified condensation in back light which was subsequently replaced by Skoda Nunawading.
Advertised at 31k, paid 17k + my old 03 sti with 140,000 on it. At 40 y.o and having subies from around 2000 it was a welcome change.
Only catch is that I have to do the 60k dsg service but I hear it's around $600 for just the dsg.
                    What do you guys think?

                    • 60k service costs about $1200-1400 all up, assuming you use genuine parts and go to a VW dealer or specialist. When I had my DSG service done with my previous car (mk6 Golf GTI) I found the DSG was a lot smoother in operation.

Sheeze lucky I scored my old 3inch exhaust and a few other bits n pieces off the sti prior to trade in. I'll sell them and put the money towards the service.
I was kind off reluctant to let the dealer service the car anyway. I figure for the price I got it for and the condition it's in $1200 -14 isn't to bad if that's my only option.
                        Thanks.

Depending on the condition of your STI it's not bad. Though you're always better off if you can sell privately. Pulling parts off and trading in stock is the way to go as the dealers won't give you more for the car with mods and possibly will make it harder for them to sell.

I'd suggest given the car is out of warranty anyway you find yourself a good independent workshop that specialises in VW's. There's a few around Melbourne. Nothing against the dealer servicing - it's done to the book and nothing is skipped/missed but you do pay a premium for the dealer stamp.

                            Hey Tigger73

Was checking out pics of your R. It looks fantastic. The Sti was in mint condition but the harsh characteristics of the car were starting to get to me, so it was the right time to move on.
Even if I compare the Roc to a 2013 model Sti, the Roc is much better bang for buck as you wont get low km's or good condition for sub 30K. As for awd VS fwd, the awd will always be more sure footed but it really isn't needed for standard daily driving. I also found the cheap plastic interior of the car to be bloody annoying and constant whine from the gearbox and diff were also a pita. Apparently Sti's are not meant to be comfortable, what do you want for 60-70K- lol. My Roc also attracts a lot of looks for some reason but hey its an unusual looking car I guess.
