  • tough call. personally for the extra few $K I'd probably take the new car. but the lightly used model is certainly the smarter choice financially. it's already taken some depreciation and you could keep it for another year or two and then sell it without loosing too much money.

if the car has the options you want then I say go the lightly used model. but perhaps try and negotiate down another thousand or two to make it a clearer choice. I have seen a lot of people asking stupid prices for their used cars. if they are asking too much just walk away. there will always be another one.

Yeah that's the dilemma, the dealers are asking too much for their used ones and there's no private ones on the market. If I wait til December and there's no private two year old cars on the market (which is likely), I'm stuffed.

Damn, I just paid around the same but without the dynaudio. Still I'm reasonably happy with my price.

But went in to a VW today and they're saying there's at least a 9 month wait now on any new orders. LOVE the car though, best decision EVER!

Probably! Any younger and the car would be on the banned list

                  Your premium must be heaps!

I'll be off the age excess by delivery time which is another reason why I'm waiting so long

Not worth it bro. Unless you keep 2200 in an account separate that you know you wont touch, it's better paying a little more and having a smaller excess. Just IMHO. Learnt that the hard way. (23 y/o)

Lol good luck to me, Nrma quoted me 6500 per annum with the regular excess.

That's like 500 per month haha, I'd rather bump excess up.

                            • Excuse the newbie post. I have just started to get interested in one of these. I am in Adelaide & Solitare did not seem to want to budge a single dollar. I had a look in Melbourne when I was over there for work but didn't get a whole lot more joy. Can anyone advise me on some tactics to help me get a better price? I wanted one with Nav at least. I don't mind looking at a demonstrator or slightly used one.

There are other dealers in SA that should be more flexible. There's Lynas in Tanunda, and Dutton's at Murray Bridge. I bought my car from Ashley Matthews (now manager at the Tanunda dealership); take a drive one day and have a chat to him; hes a nice bloke and will give you a good deal.

And if you're really keen, do some aggressive shopping around in Melbourne or Sydney, and get some serious prices. Then you can either take those prices back to SA and see if they're willing to budge, or else buy interstate, and drive the car back to SA yourself on a temporary rego. It's not an uncommon thing to do.
