Hey there, would the Castrol Edge 5w-40 A3/B4 be a good option for the ea113 motor ? Mine is stage 2 tuned, seen some others recommend this online. Just did an oil change with the vw recommended 5w-30. Cheers

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Best oil for stage 2 scirocco?

I tend to use a 5w40 Liqui Moly, seems to reduce oil consumption.

That Castrol oil you have pictured meets the VW502/505 oil spec, so its ok to use in the EA113.
As far as I know there are no 5w-40 oils that meet the newer spec VW504/507, so you have to use the older spec which is VW502/505. I used to run 5w-40 in my old Mk6 GTI as it used to drink a little bit of oil, and moving from a 5w-30 to a 5w-40 seemed to slow down the oil consumption a bit, plus the 5w-40 oil is generally a bit cheaper so its a win win.
I used to use Penrite Enviro+ 5w-40 because it was readily and easily accessable at Repco/Supercheap etc and also regularly on sale so I would buy a couple of bottles when they were on sale: Penrite Enviro+ Engine Oil - 5W-40 5 Litre | Supercheap Auto
Edit - just got an email from Automotive Superstore and these ones are on special.
