boring is yellow and black. boring euro cost $60 I think. get yellows and wait for your personals.

How about VWG60J should be able to get that in black and white.

When you say boring number plates, do you mean euro style without them being personalised ??

Once you have your blue slip inspection report, saying that the car is roadworthy, which should cost $30 or so. The CTP green slip, is your compulsary insurance will cost $567 from AAMI or NRMA and then RTA fees will be from $200+ depending on how much you say the car is worth. $3 per $100 of its value. Plus $30 for boring number plates. Personals will take much longer. You can always swop em later. Around $800 I`d say.

You can do the whole process in an hour if you try. See you at the cruise on Sunday I hope.

If you're not applying for a custom number and just taking the next one they have on the pile then you can get them straight away.

Otherwise take the standard yellow plates in the interim and wait for your special order. You can check what's available and how it looks on the RTA web site under "myPlates".

Went to see my car last wednesday and empty my personal effects from it.
Its in perfect shape thank god ! The mechanic i'm using is cool and sent off for the compliance plate before starting work on it.
The plate is ust a printed sticker apparently. As soon as this arrives (he reckons tomorrow or latest tuesday) i can drive it back to Manly !!

Thing is i'm not sure if i can afford to rego it straight away as its taken me longer to find work than what i expected and funds are running low.

Still, very excited to be getting here at last !!

Do not offer too much information to the RTA.
I had an '86 Golf 2 from the UK. Did not have a compliance plate. The child seat belts were just connected to the small metal tabs next to the tail lights. Easy!

    Depends on who checks it.

Yeah as peter just pointed out, i'll have Australian plates on it. I'll drive it from Botany to Manly RTA on the UK plates though !!
The biggest delay is getting the car compliant, takes time to put the child seat anchors in and get the compliance plate made up.
The car arrived a day late but its in Botany at the mo, it will go to the mechanic next week !! Can't wait !!
