MK6 TSI running MK6 GTI Suspension

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone here is has a 2010 MK6 TSI using GTI suspension. I guess my argument here is that while I dont want to fork out to much upgrading to new suspension I would mind a slightly firmer ride. Also am I right in assuming that the car would sit lower then it would with stockies?!

ps, if this is a stupid idea by all means let me know.

i think the GTi sits 15mm lower,

Mk5 GTI should fit as well.

Thanks for the replies, thought I would have been done many times over already. 15mm doesnt seem all that much lower altho the GTI's seem to have a much lower ride height over the stock TSI's.

You'd need to do dampers, springs & F&R sway bars to get the full effect. Front sway bar is a pain.

If you are DIYing then fair enough but if you are paying workshop rates then there are better ways to spend your money.

There someone here on the forums with fairly newish GTI stock suspension. While my TSI only has 50K km for the price which he is asking thought this route the best bang for buck. I also read on another thread about replacing the springs for H&R's which also lowers the car by about 20 to 30mm I think. i guess that's another option.

What are you actually trying to achieve or change?

Do you like the stock ride height but want a firmer ride? Better handling? Flatter cornering? You haven't really been clear

A lower ride first off, dont mind a stiffer feel to the car but nothing too dramatic. Also at some stage I will be getting some 18"s put on the car and dont want the guards sitting 3" off the top of the wheel.

I will probably get the suspension "upgrade" if you can call it that. I'll take some before and after shots as I work though everything.

I did that to my wife previous mk6 118tsi. Bought a set of mk6 gti springs and shocks off a forum member to eliminate that 3" gap between tyre and fender. It stiffened the ride, reduced nose dive, sharpened the handling, etc etc... but nothing too dramatic.

Rear springs = yes
Front springs = should also be a yes, but cant say with 100% certainty without looking at a 90TSI.

i dont know exactly whats in a golf R, but if the Springs on your Golf R are actually the VWR Blue springs out of the UK (i assume they would be then yeah they'll fit... i got a set fitted on my 2012 90tsi.

I've got the H&R 20mm lowering springs in mine, hence not needing the factory Golf R springs any longer.
