Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • H&R height adjustable spring rate ? gti 7

anyone know the spring rate for these, specifically gti 7.
I know kw make a similar set with 240lb front and 530lb rear rates.

H&R, MSS and KW all make these height adjustable springs, and none of them quote spring rates. You would need to contact the manufacturers directly id say to ask them.

But, for the price, you may as well get a set of coilovers which you can get decent ones for around $2k and then not only will you have brand new shocks, but shocks that are matched to the lowering springs.

Does your car have the factory optional adjustable shocks? (Sport/Normal/Comfort options). I had this option on my MK7 GTI Performance and matched with 034 Motorsports variable rate lowering springs (which gave a 30mm drop) it rode really well and looked great.

not going to waste 2k on a cheap set of coilovers, you pay for what you get and 2k isn't much for a coilover. 4k+ and then you get something that is designed and tested but I'm not going to go on about this here👍

yes I know I can contact them but I thought someone here might have the info.

if anyone cares to know the rates are 29nm f and 42mn rear or 256lbin f and 371lbin r

thanks to bilstein Australia for the info.
