Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Need help with Centre bore / Hub bore

    Gday fellow members

I have a chance to get BBS SR rims in 17" for my Mk6 R
Wanted to go down a size and eventually go with 245X45X17 to fill in the wheel arch
The sellers states the Hub bore is 82mm where as the Mk6r is 57.1mm .
My question is what am I missing or should I go elsewhere for the rims

    cheers
    Golf Mk6 R

I believe you will need suitable hub rings. The best option is to buy rims with the correct hub size to suit your car, but lots of wheel manufacturers will make a certain bore size and then sell hub rings to suit various other cars:

In addition to Lucas' info above, you can also look at Ebay for hub rings. Do not get the cheap plastic ones as they deform almost instantly and create a wobble, get proper aluminum ones. Can be substantially cheaper than brand names and just as good.
