It's a .tar file that has to be put on a thumb drive and flashed onto the unit. I can send the link to anyone on a PM.

To all:
Yes, it retains Android Auto.
I made clear to the seller that I HAD to keep it, because it was the reason I've bought that unit in the first case. He assured me that it was the correct firmware with AA. The odd part is that it's still version 5314.
I've PM'ed you with the link he's sent me.

The instructions for flashing the FW (bear in mind that it might not work on other units - the info the seller gave me was not clear):
(copy-and-paste from the seller's e-mail)
"download the file , and put the file in the usb flash
press the setup long time , than choose updating the software
please make sure do that when the unit and car is power on".Last edited by RecZero; 16-11-2017, 10:20 AM.

Put that on a thumb drive, not on a SD. Do not extract the file as well. It has to be the .tar file.
It doesn't beep anymore during startup and all audio preferences can be regularly stored as well.
I could not PM everybody due to the time restriction (15 min for each 2 PM's).

Ok to anyone that has bought the RCD340 (Android Auto version) I can confirm that the firmware update that RecZero sent me fixes the beeps on startup and the volume issue of not retaining settings. I can now get music playing from the radio without having to play BT or AA audio first.
I still cannot connect my iPhone, but not sure if that is software/cable issues for me.
Android Auto is retained and seems to be working properly for me anyway.
Firmware took only 5 or so min to update and was very easy.
The google assistant volume seems very high and doesn't seem to retain the previous setting, but I haven't had a chance to play around with that yet.
So fingers crossed there are no other bugs with this Firmware.
Massive thanks to RecZero

Glad to know it worked, pal. I reckon it's pretty much bug free now, at least for me. Another bug that was killing me was the absence of sound at the beginning of the unit's operation. That's gone as well. I've learned that AA may be tricky sometimes. You need to make sure location is enabled prior to connecting the phone on the unit. I think it should have an option to automatically enable that upon AA connection. Leaving the phone on "do not disturb" option disables the Google Assistant as well, and there's not option to change that once the phone runs on AA mode. Nevertheless, once you get used to that, it works pretty well. Google's voice recognition is really top notch these days. I cannot say about CarPlay right now. I'll test my GF's iPhone when I can, so I'll report it back later.

The actual unit with OEM Android Auto is 6RF 035 187C o 6RF 035 187E:
Review: R340G head-unit in my Polo GT TSI - Team-BHP
The one sold by Crngiar is a hacked 187B (that came originally with Apple Carplay only). I bought one of those and had the same bugs, ended up returning it.Last edited by edpolis; 18-11-2017, 03:55 AM.
