Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 9W7 Install not working

    Hi guys,

So I've just installed a 9W7 kit in my 2009 Tiguan. The module is above the climatronic and plugged in. I had a DIY harness which I have spliced as per this pic. I have plugged into the BT module, the mic and the RNS510.

Now, the RNS-510 powers on fine and works as previously.

I go into VCDS, 77 - Telephone is already checked in Installations for CAN Gateway.

But I can't go into the Telephone module in VCDS. It isn't picking it up for some reason.

Is there any way to trouble shoot here? I'll jump in with a multi-meter tomorrow and make sure my solders are good. I can obviously check the power+ and gnd but is there a voltage CAN +/- will throw out or a way to check?

    Tips appreciated please.

    Cam.

      Ding ding ding.

I went for a drive last night and my RVC and Optical sensors were going haywire with warnings on the RNS510. Laying in bed last night I thought I must have the Can hi/lo mixed up for it to mess other things up.

I was a fool for trusting the wire colours on the cheap chinese harness. Orange/purple and orange/black are the wires I had and thought surely they'd match the ones in the quadlock. Nope, wrong. They were opposite.

      Thanks mate!
