RNS-510 SDHC support for larger than 32GB?

My manual on my RNS-510 says it supports a max file size of 32GB with SDHC media. Anyone know if there is a way to increase it to 64GB or higher through firmware updates or hacks? Or, should I just replace the HDD with a big SSD and be done with it?

I presume you mean a 32GB and 64GB capacity SD Card, rather than file size. Anyway, I wrote to Continental about this once, and the answer I got back was completely unsatisfactory. Therefore, I suspect it cannot be done. The HDD upgrade is not for the feint hearted, so my suggestion is to use MDI and an iPod, or Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. At least with the latter you will also be able to use streaming services.

What part number is your unit?
C10 and later revisions support SDXC up to 2TB.
If your unit has a 40GB HDD rather than 30GB then there is a good chance you can use large cards...

I'm running a 2011 Passat with an RSN 510. The hidden setup button doesn't work for me so I don't know the part number for my unit. I would flash the firmware on it but I believe that wipes the maps and I didn't get the map CD with the car when I bought it 2nd hand. Anyone care to share the maps with me so I can flash the firmware?

Go to media then extras hdd capacity. If it's just under 15gb then you have a 30gb hdd. Just under 20gb it's a 40 gb drive. Buy the map disk it's only $55.

I'll be interested in how this is set up if it can be done. I have a an H10 unit with firmware 5238. I have tried inserting a genuine Samsung 128GB MicroSD in an adapter and the card is not recognised. This is why I wrote to Continental.

Why you would want more than 32 Gb is a bit beyond me I have 6000 tracks on a card and they are only 18Gb

My 510 is a C unit and it has a 40 Gb HDD in it.

If you really want to try a bigger SD card you can try formatting a 64 or a 128 as FAT 32 and see if it recognizes it. I have a 128 running in my dashcam and it is only suppossed to have a 32 in it.

To do this you need a program called guiformat-X64

Held it down for one minute, twice, and no other menu appears. Presume it is not activated on my unit. I can tell you that it is a Revision P.

Did you buy it later because 2010 ones were nomally C or D versions. It didnt come up on mine till I upgraded the firmware to 4020 so that might be the trouble
