Hello RNS Gurus,
I too need help with my RNS510 unit.
Since buying the R36 second hand last year the RNS has not worked properly.
No OPS
No media capability, with not read SD card, hangs on media start up.
Bluetooth will not pair with iPhone
Radio and Navigation work fine.
The marking on the case of the unit is as follows;
1T0 035 680 B
HW: H11
SW: 1200
000532850
Continental
A2C53388884 VD1
I am not able to bring up the Version Info screen when pressing and holding the Setup button.
Have performed a reset to factory defaults, with no change to it's operability.
Any suggestions on getting this unit to normal working condition?
I would like in future, to upgrade to RVC.
Upgrade is complete and successful (partially). The SD card now works. Media loads normally.
OPS is still missing or does not activate, any ideas?
Where is the best place to purchase v8?
The iPhone still won't pair, receive a message that the phone is not compatible. What would you recommend here, a new Bluetooth module?
What sort of BT module do you have?
What iphone and IOS version?
OPS missing could just be a coding issue.
If you want to come out to The Hills I can look at it for you.

Thanks,
I don't know which BT module I have, have not been able to find it.
iPhone is 5S, running iOS 9.2.
I'd be more than happy to make the run out. I'll PM you for specific details.
That sucks, how much do I sell it for? Ideally I would like not to spend any or much money at all
Hey Spacepig3000,
Where did you buy your RNS510 from? I have been dudded by a bloke off eBay (username bvmp2012 aka Martin Payne*) who has sold me an American unit...
Bought it back in November last year, and given the Golf is my girlfriends car, and gets driven about, ooh, once a week for an hour at a time, have only just got around to fitting it (life gets in the way, you know how it is!)
First sign of trouble was when we had the same issue as you with only getting blank boxes when you get to the street name parts....
Can easily find towns, and navigate towards them, and you can even see it is narrowing down the number of streets that have the same letters ... For Campbellfield, going from 'North' to 'Northbourne' brings the number of blank boxes down.
Anyhow, pulled the unit tonight, and got the photos required.
Going through the menus, found mention of SiriusXM, which is the Satelight radio service in the USA.
Bloke who sold it to me goes by the username of 'bvmp2012', which is linked to a list of name a mile long: Mark Anthony James aka Martin Payne aka Michel Kososinow aka Mikhael Roshkonov aka Mirhoin Koskosinov, Mishel Richa, and it seems he previously went by mikero777, pigzmickey, and a list of others… The mobile number, home address and email match navigationau.com and bmwmultimedia.com.au...
refer to Bad Buyer: ddw2@hotmail.com.au - mic2333
also… https://www.finance.nsw.gov.au/about...tems-australia (should have done a search before paying out $770!)
Thought by looking at his eBay reputation, at 98% positive as it was when I bought it would ensure a good transaction, but nope!
I doubt I will get any satisfaction out of this bloke, but let’s maybe think of this as a cautionary tale!
I’ve come from the world of old Alfa Romeos, where stuff like this is unheard of.
A timely reminder to always be vigilant, I suppose!
