MIB II Infotainment System for Australia

Update, Mirror Link is now working on all vehicles including Golf's. It will be available later on in the year. Car Play is currently being worked on. The issue on hand is no maps are available for MIB II. So don't feel too disheartened that you've missed out on the feature from an MY16/16.5 since we will be providing this as a plug & play option and with an 8" display not 6.5"

Will keep you all informed as soon as I find out more.

Pickup the 92TSI with MIB II (6.5") Satnav. Large improvement over the old system in response time. Traffic was not active but a quick VCDS coding of 1024 has it working fine.
Maps are now V3 Multi Region Map 2 (part # 3G0 919 866 K).
Have not been able to get the MirrorLink or Android Auto working yet but I think that is more to do with the phone. Will reload the app and retry later.
Bluetooth works a treat with all our phones (Android and Windows) in finding music.
I'll post more info as I play with it over the next few days.

Hey Flipper Dog, would be real interested to hear if you get Mirrorlink working with a Windows Phone. It's supposed to be supported, but I can't find anything in the app store, or any mention of it in the Windows Phone support literature. I'm beginning to suspect they're saving Mirrorlink support for WindowsPhone 10 which won't be out until the end of the year....?

I'll find out closer to release date. For now our focus is getting AU maps working as a retrofit by bypassing activation.

I think you'll find WindowsPhone doesn't currently support Mirrorlink. Although Microsoft did demo it over a year ago, the functionality hasn't made it into a publicly available offering yet. My guess is it will come out with the WindowsPhone 10 operating system at the end of this year, or soon after as an add-on app.

Update on the MIB II.
MirrorLink not working with Sony Xperia Z3 but have Android Auto up and running well. Took a while to set up with a few reinstalls of google programs.
Windows phone no go. Comes up with MirrorLink not available with this phone - Nokia 930 with 8.1, will try on Windows 10 when available.

Problem with the system is no voice control with the system. VW are unable to offer any information on if this is available so makes it hard to go totally hands free. If anyone knows of VCDS coding to let Mr Ross Tech play around I am willing to try.

Just to clear up, when you say Mirror Link is working, do you mean working on MY15 & earlier MIB systems?? & that this will be available as a software update later in year??

Or are you referring to it working on new hardware (CPU & 8" screen) you will make available later in the year, which is just as fast as MIB 2 (as seen in video I posted above)?

Is this new hardware the actual MIB 2 or an after market model?

Just to clarify; 8" display (same display for MIB/MIBII). However for mirror link you'll need a MIBII. We are working on trying to get AU maps working. The hardware will be a genuine MIB II. We do not deal with any third party options.

Mobile Infotainment System (MIB) II discussion

Just after people's thoughts on VW's latest MIB II Infotainment system & any new/nifty settings they've noticed.

First thing I noticed was the speed boost over MIB I. This is especially evident in the Nav function - loading routes & scrolling around the screen is pretty much instant.

The screen clarity is also much better & helps add a bit of class to the thing, though the 6.5" screen could be bigger (Canada get 8" for eg.), it's also a welcome upgrade from the 5.8" of MIB I.

I'm still playing around with it, but if anyone wants to share any tips/hidden settings/general impressions, it'd be good.

Been reading on overseas forums about the new MIBII getting a neat boost gage and the other goodies shown in the picture below (which is from Vortex). Does anyone with a new generation infotainment unit on an Aussie model get this screen?

^ Nah. I just have the 'Think Blue. Trainer', which I've been interested in a total number of zero times.

Might be something to activate when I get some software tweaks done in due time..
