Look forward to hearing what enhancements there are on the v5 map. Hopefully they've at least fixed the speed limit errors (and more recent map edition, of course)

V5 map for example is based on Sensis 2011 (Q1) database.

All else being equal, V6 will be 2012 Sensis map.

So 5hithouse by portable GPS unit standards!

The V4 maps I got in my car in 2011 were 2 years out of date as they didnt have the new Gateway motorway in them nor the Bribie interchange which opened well before I got the car, mid 2010 if I remember correctly
Both are in V5 but some other roads that have been there since 2011 are not.

Hopefully the Tunnels in Brissy might make it this time. For the price of the unit we should get free maps as original owners.
So far the dealer has upgraded mine for free but its an hour drive each way so will wait and see what turns up I think.

In contrast my Tomtom has a new map every 3 months for about $12.50 a time.

Bought one in the USA which had free maps and traffic for life for $118 to use when I was over there.

It would appear they have added traffic updates. As described in post #79 over on the vwgolf forum. Which would make sense as it was enabled on CD_7703. My experience is the SUNA updates are pretty terrible, but at least the button actually does something. Will have a chat to my dealer in Melbourne on Friday and see if they can do a similar deal.

I'm not sold on TMC being enabled yet as the TOC has TMC set to 'no' and there is no TMC folder on the CD.
You could always find the TP channel, but there is no key installed to decrypt the data from the channel.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong...I am out of the metro area so can't test it.

Yep ... would have to agree.

Besides ... functionality is redundant in Sydney.

Every fricken road, motorway is jammed every weekend!

Like tell me something that I can't see for myself kilometres ahead!

That said my Galaxy S3 has those Google Now notifications that popup around 7am and 4.30pm telling me how long the commute is going to be - and the few times I've tested it it's been scarily accurate (unless there was a new accident on the way there, but the estimate updates every half hour - and yes, it works out where I work all by itself)

On the other hand this was a useful alert I got!

A message on the screen telling me to turn on the ignition to avoid battery going flat.

Had been sitting in the car for about half an hour listening to the radio.

Indeed turning on the ignition I noticed the engine was struggling to start with interior light going out momentarily.

First time I've noticed this message on the RNS510 and probably need to look at my battery properly now.

Should normally be able to listen to radio with ignition off for longer than that.

Certainly have installed 2 firmware back to back before, without any issues.

You've got the AutoPolar FIS installed, right? Add the Battery Voltage as one of your parameters until you swap it over.

Got my v6 maps disk today for $55 at Jackson VW Hobart.

After hearing people getting them for $60 I stopped in on my way past and ask how much. He said $55. no haggling don't know why it was $5 cheaper.

Finally....the Text To Speech engine works. No more 'turn left towards dummy'!

Does anyone have a line to the source of the leaked CD toc that was going around a while back with tmc enabled? Now that v6 is officially released maybe there is no harm in gaining access to that beta release for testing? Perhaps we can combine the two to get the traffic program working...

Are you referring to CD_7703? The person who said he had it, never delivered.

Other improvements noticed:
- no 120km speed limits;
- correct display of underground motorways, tunnels like M5 as appearing underneath the roads; and
- correct display of overhead bridges and roads as appearing above the roads beneath;
