I would say you pull the brass colored bits either towards the centre or outwards if that doesnt work and it will slide out

Depends whether the clips go into the unit or the fitting panel around it Will be one way or the other

Try sliding a knife blade down one side at a time inside and then outside of the clips and see if that works

Otherwise you may need some remover tools

What he said, usually there is a release tab about 5cm from the face and a couple of metal release tools that come with the HU
If the tabs need to go down the side a bamboo kebab skewer or length of coathanger down the sides. PM me if you are still stuck.

By the look of that unit it needs flat removers The pin remove units are usually built in models and have two holes on each side.

Just took one out of a Mazda like that and it didnt look like this one Would say definitely those brass colored bits are the bits to move to get it out That is a unit that has a frame around it that is kept in with tabs behind the dash and usually the clips are screwed into the unit and the tabs lock into the outside frame so pushing them in against the head unit allows it to slide out

Its definitely not an original fitting

Slide a thin knife blad down between the unit and the brass tabs and twist slightly If you live on the northside PM me I live near Bribie island

How do I remove this head unit?

Looks like it needs the "standard" flat keys.

I've had luck in the past going to my local autobahn (although to be fair I did to there a lot) and just asked to borrow theirs to rip a stereo out.

              Might be worth a shot.

If you were local I'd offer my keys, I have a few Pioneer and at least one JVC set here somewhere.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
