Don't have my laptop on me to check where it is, using my iPad at moment but it sounds like Tig 73 has solved the problem

I haven't figured out the auto mirror dipping either (actually forgot about it until now). I gave it 3 attempts using my IT/common sense approach with no success, so waiting for proper instructions.

Don't think it's gonna work, as it is hardware problem as oppose to software.

Gurus @ Rosstech confirmed that dipping mirrors only work on Tigs with folding mirrors or top spec SEL model in the US.

Yes I suspect that the lower end models are just all hard-wired from the switch/knob on the door handle direct to the mirror motor. Nothing going to the ECU so there'd be no possibility to control the mirror motor from the ECU as there will be no wiring and hence no ability to control the mirror from the ECU.

I'm just wondering if there is something that is a giveaway in the scan that can tell you if you have the required hardware/wiring connections or not.

There's 2 issues at play here:

1) whether you have the physical connection from ECU to mirrors
2) whether the car has the ability to store/memory for mirror position

If you don't have 1) then it's never going to work.

If you have 1) but not 2) then the FIS+ can act as the mirror position memory unit. This may not be as accurate positioning as the "factory fitted" mirror dipping function, however you will still be able to use this feature.

This is the difference between enabling the function in VCDS and in FIS+. With VCDS you require the memory unit to be present in the car. With FIS+ if you don't have the mirror memory then FIS+ will perform this function.

That's my understanding at the moment. Though I'm still looking to get clarification from AutoPolar.

Ah thanks, makes sense. Strange that some cars would have #1 by itself though while others don't.

Once you get it sorted be sure to ask them to update their advertising to reflect what cars it can be used for, and maybe hide the menu on the Golf, etc.

Just confirmed that mirro dipping actually does work in the Tiguan - got the function working so all the necessary hardware must already be there.

Did you disconnect the battery when you switched that red canbus connector?

Though if you are in Sweden the location of CANbus gateway my be different as you have LHD???

Yes recommended to disconnect the battery when connecting/disconnecting the CANbus connector.
