Normally we would recommend installing OEM Fender or Dynaudio system genuine VW.
Focal speakers will work as well and you can wire them to the aftermarket amp as well.

Hello I have bought a 2013 beetle with sports pack that I am waiting on dealership delivery. Do you do this unit with gps and a reverse camera to suit the new 2013 beetle ?
Also what is the output of these decks ? Are they powerful enough to run a set ofnice speakers (focal?) Does the deck have pre-outs for an amplifier ?

How can I tell which unit is in my car, I have a factory Columbus but not sure if it is up to date in terms of software and maps?

Press setup for approximately 15-20 seconds, it should tell you.
Other option is to connect a computer to the car which can read it.

I hope this is in the correct place. I have just driven a new/demonstrator Passat 118TSI, build date July 13, with 3500km on the clock; a nice car. Although having GPS fitted, it did not have a shark fin antenna. The GPS system said: HW: H09, SW: 5238 and map: 7679. My questions are:
(i) is this a factory installed GPS or dealer added, as the latest seems to be version P?
(ii) are VW shipping now without the shark fin antenna and old GPS versions?
(iii) would it be worth while pulling out the unit with the H version and replacing with the P version? The H version could go to our Golf.

Comments would be much appreciated.

Sorry if I've missed this, but I read somewhere (which I can't find again) that you need to also change the arial to a GPS compatible one when upgrading to a RNS510. Is this right?

I've got a 2013 MY14 Scirocco with a standard RCD510, but am looking to upgrade to a RNS510.

Do I need anything else besides the RNS510 unit for it to fit plug and play as per what it would be if I opted for this from VW factory/showroom?

You can get a puck that goes in the dash or spend a fortune and time running wires to a shark fin one in the roof .
Most opt for the puck and if you read the threads it tell you the best place to put it.
If you are upgrading don't do it for the Navigation as its woeful The rest of the units abilities are Ok though

Aside from the navigation, what does a RNS do that a RCD doesn't? The redeeming thing about my RNS is that I also got the Dynaudio sound with it...

Bluetooth phone connection so handsfree, Has a 40 Gig HDD so lots of music.

However I use an SD card as its easier to change libraries. Doesn't come standard with Dynaudio.
Apart from that not much that I can think of.
