Firmware updates for European RNS510 units

It is having trouble reading the disk. Try another disk. Burn at lowest speed.

do i need to downgrand first or not?
i burned it at x8 and x4 speed,i lost like 20 CDs

You should not need to downgrade first, you just need to enable downgrade in the hidden menu.
There may be a problem with the ISO that you have created.
I will try and find some time later to make and upload the ISO..

i used Daemon tool, i just deleted the file and replaced the one you uploaded for me and i saved the ISO,

One thing I have noticed at 402x firmware is the unit seems even MORE picky about CDs.
I never had any issues with mine in the past but after upgrade to 402x I had to use xpcdburner and track at once recording to get a custom boot screen CD to be accepted.

Maybe its worth doing a downgrade to 276x first and then upgrade to 402x....

I burnt mine using disk utility on a Mac on max speed (24x in this case) and Verbatim media and it worked fine first time.

On a side note, For people using windows I highly recommend imgburn, it's free, simple and awesome!

It's a combination.

I've never had issues with Nero or imgburn until 402x firmware.

So it's a matter of trial and error as each unit has its own preferences for media and burner/application.

+1 to this, except I did it at 10x which was the slowest it'd go.

Just go down to 2xxx then up to 402x.

can i save Western Europe, and Easter Europe to one HDD?

That's good news.
Did you go down to 27xx then up to 402x or did you manage to load 402x by itself?
You can only have one set of maps loaded to the hdd. You can put in the DVD if you are in Easter or Christmas Europe.

no i didnt load back to 27xx but i enabled allow downgrand,
the map is copied now to the HDD and all is fine

Thanks. I presume that is the 402x firmware ISO?
Any chance you could also upload the 38xx firmware ISO with Euro partition sizes as well?
Then we can have a complete guide for Europe with pre-made images...
