Yeah, plenty of fun to be had with the VCDS cable:

As far as version C speed impressions are concerned, it takes about 10-15 seconds to fully boot, but the music resumes before then, but if you want to change the music source (i.e. radio, HDD, MDI, SD) you might have to wait a bit longer (not good if ABBA is playing and you have passengers)
You also have to wait a bit while booting for Sat-nav to become available.

^This only applies for cold-boots. If you've ducked into the shops quickly and come back then the system is ready to go straight away. I think the timeout is about 20 minutes from memory.



Browsing folders for songs isn't instant, but isn't annoyingly slow either, esp when your focus is on driving anyway.
In your shoes, I'd go for the D or higher model too, no idea what version F brings, though.

Still considering that VCDS cable. I've also been looking at the LED Tails, so the cable could come in handy...

I'm doing the OEM RVC next, then LED tail lights. Without the VCDS I wouldn't even contemplate it, too difficult to coordinate resources to perform the coding. Jump on-board, get one!!
