Had the rear parking camera fitted today.

Fantastic clarity on the picture, really, really good (and I do cctv security cameras as part of my job), so I am very impressed.

I had the camera on whilst driving, man, very weird. Kinda like race cam.

While post a couple of photos in a day or so.

      Hi,

i meant the rest of the speakers, amps, subs or whatever you're running. Unless you're just going with the sweet head unit and stock speakers?

        Jon.....
        Aaahhhhhhhh, got ya
Just the head unit. AVIC has improved the sound of the stock speakers by leaps and bounds.
I'm thinking if I dropped in a sub and changed the speakers the car might explode

I have noticed that I am missing some of the sound clarity compared to the Bose speakers in my Audi, but as of yet I haven't tweaked the equalizer. I will see how I go

I am thinking of getting one of these and I was wondering what other costs on top of the unit there were

Also add $399 for the Pioneer rear parking camera installed if you so desire.
You have to install the specific Pioneer camera as it can be turned on whilst driving as well as automatically coming on when you select reverse, and a normal parking camera (which is cheaper) cannot provide both options.

Well, you get what you pay for.
All I can say is that after using the AVIC for the past month, nothing else comes close - but, that's my opinion

the kenwood unit doesnt touch the AVIC for features.

                        Not even close.

One alternative, the Eclipse AVN 6000 has had its price lowered. I think it's now around the $2500 area.

As a comparison, the Eclipse is DVD based instead of hard drive. It doesn't offer Bluetooth, or the car performance features. I like it's interface better than the Pioneer (though of course that's just a personal opinion). Ipod and camera integrate nicely.

It's good that we now have a little bit of choice in this market, as Australia seems to have been neglected for quite some time.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as far as i am aware Pioneer Australia WILL NOT sell you the Australian software as what you have in your possession is a grey/black import.
