        screen go up

        screen go down

Overall the unit is very impressive. Lots of options and settings to configure - I have spent the whole day ripping cd's to the hard drive, importing via blue tooth my phone contacts and generally feeling my way around the menu structure.

My biggest problem at the moment is importing from a burnt cd, .mp3's nero has converterd to .cda's. For some reason the AVIC is recognising totally different songs as a previously recorded song, and due to this it will then refuse to rip the new burnt cd to the hard drive. I will sort it out, but it is a pain at the moment.

        Cheers,
        Geoff.

            Looks OK.
Fits into the dash fairly nicely, maybe looks 1% out of place compared to the factory fitted head unit, but if you never saw that you wouldn't know anyway.
The cool thing is I can have the nav running, music playing and also make & receive phone calls. PLUS when I get the rear camera fitted next week, I can also at the same time have that up on a split screen next to the nav.

                No,
I had a really good look all around the car (inside & outside) after the install. Not a mark, otherwise....

Geeez , thanks for that dubing

Well, I put in a car alarm with tilt and glass break sensors. The reflective window tinting makes it hard to see inside as well.

Not much else I can do I suppose.

oh, I'll say it again. That looks real nice, a great set up.

It all hooks up to the steering controls too?

That's a pretty sweet unit there, with so many features. Plus, being so flush in the dash, it looks like a stock Nav/TV system you get on most modern cars now.

What's the rest of the system look like?

                        Good work.

Yep, it needed a separate CAN Bus interface to enable the steering wheel controls. What that gives you is volume control, a/v input selection. Actually haven't tried the phone button yet, but phone connects no problem.
ABSOLUTE pain transferring my phone contacts. Because I have a Dopod 838 Pro, I can only send one bluetooth business card at a time. I will easily fill up the 400 memory capacity of the AVIC, PLUS when I do transfer one business card I get multiple entries in the AVIC phone book, This is because typically I have for one contact a mobile, office, fax & maybe home number. These are all transfered to the AVIC as one business card, but the AVIC creates a new phone contact PER phone number & not per contact name.

                          Hi Jon,
There is no rest of system, it is all in the head and the interfaces are all tucked under the dash.

In all seriousnes - awesome looking setup. I went a paid a visit to BlackVr6 last week and got some prices on having something similar fitted. I bet it set you back a pretty penny! Awesome job though - looks very OEM+

Thanks 99gti, it certainly does blend nicely into the dash & it certainly did cost a pretty penny. You get what you pay for these days
