I'm having some difficulty with the kit, wonder if any of you have any ideas?

    1) Voice activation doesn't work. Manual says to hit the mic button on the wheel, then say HELP to get the menu/display/explanation of all the voice commands but after dimming the volume of the media, saying HELP at various pitches/volume doesn't do anything. I've checked the language setting of the RCD510, it said Auto, and I changed to English to no avail.

    2) Not picking up my address book. However, my work mobile is very old and might be an older version of BT

    3) When I dial numbers on the RCD display, or use a preset number, my mobile calls the last dialled number (ie, either the phone is ignoring or the BT unit is not sending the digits, just the dial command at the end). However, again, it might be because my work phone is very old (Telstra ZTE 152 or something like that).

The 2nd and 3rd issues I might be able to resolve by testing a new phone, but I don't know why the voice activation isn't working. Just to clarify, the mic does work for speech (when I am talking during a call), I just can't get it into voice control mode.

Any MY11 BT users got the voice controls to work?

same with me - everything works fine (dialled numbers/call lists/address book/etc/etc - iphone 3g) but the Voice activation button seems to just mute the music and do nothing else.....

      any advice anyone?

Reading a number of threads around the net on the various kits available, it does seem like there's a coding you can do to enable the mic button to be a voice activation vs a mute button. Strange it would come out of the factory like that though. If you have access to a VAGCOM you could change it, or ask the dealer to do it for you...

By the way, anyone who's got a MY11 on order with the 9ZB kit used the erWin site? That might give some details about part numbers, etc for the rest of us

Yes, the bluetooth kit still sounds the ringtone when my iPhone is set to silent.

The Mic button defaults to the Mute function for cars without Bluetooth (that's what mine currently does - it's actually a handy feature in itself, since it also pauses the media if you're not listening to the radio).

You need to change the coding in VAG COM to change the function of the button. There's a good installation guide that covers the VAGCOM codes here:

                Thanks Ryan.

The star button on the roof module does nada at the moment. Probably needs to be assigned via VAG COM too.

Am seeing the 'foreman' at the dealer on Thursday to sort it out.

Hmmm, the PDF in Ryan's post says RCD510 supports voice calling (using manually created voice tags) on page 1, but on page 17, it says RCD510 doesn't support voice control (of the RCD510?).

Service dept at my dealer has put a call to VW Australia and they are testing it out, as he has only seen voice activation work on RNS-510 version C.

Seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding Bluetooth.

Currently considering putting an order in for 7P6035730C.

VW Bluetooth KIT RCD510 RNS 510

Would probably have the dealer install it for me $300 doesn't seem too bad for the install. Would a dealer order one in? Really like the integration of this unit and wouldn't want a 3rd party option.

Is the system completely plug and play, for those that had it installed where did the wire up the mic?

                      Hi Zerosingal.
This thread is for the VW MY11 9ZB option.
The link you placed for ebay doesn't work, but if it's not for 9ZB, please start another thread to stop any further confusion

Ahh you are right it looks like it is the 9W7, wonder where the difference lies? if any.

Time for another thread though - cheers.

Yep, check the BT options thread stickied at the top...

FWIW, my money is on 9W7 being just the NA version of 9ZB or at least a functionally identical version for our market.

I asked the service foreman for the part number of the 9ZB, but he said it couldn't be ordered for after market installation, that the 'premium kit' was only available as a part of a factory build.

Pepe, I'll send you a PM re the VIN for your contact to look it up.

Oh, and more Googling has found this : http://www.volkswagen.no/media/count...__mai_2010.pdf

A spec list from VW Norway, that lists 9ZB as the "standard" bluetooth kit and 9ZU as the "premium". That was as of May.

Furthermore, this post http://askavwsalesguy.com/2009/10/25...-golf-and-gti/ shows 9ZU being ordered in Oct 2009.

So, more useless trivia for a Friday afternoon...

Okay, the 9ZB thing is solved (big thanks to Maltopia for his VIN so I could follow this up)

                                9ZB = 9W7

Using Maltopia's VIN, I had a VW parts guy look his car up on the system and confirm that the BT unit in the 9ZB code is 7P6 035 730B, which is the B version of the 9W7 kit. No idea why it's a different order code to 9W7 here, but it is the same thing. It has an integrated BT aerial, so is just a control unit.

VW Aus lists the price for the unit alone as $738.30 and doesn't have any in stock, in fact, they haven't ever had any. But, it is on their system now at least.
