Is there anyone is Melb that can assist me with this firmware upgrade?? All this talk about voice activation is making me very excited. Unfortunately, my Auto Tech skills are VERY limited. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
My Cars a august 09 build with factory RNS 510, it doesn't accent SDHC cards and no mention of voice controls anywhere?
I'm assuming I don't have the latest software, so how do I check?
And will VW service update it to the latest? It also tells me every DVD I stick in has the wrong region code so I think an update is in order, and I want to sortta know what I'm talking about lol
Thanks,
Stoney!

You will have version 1100 so would need Vagcom/VCDS to check.
And you won't have 2660 that's for sure. If you take a look at my site you can see the differences in the menu.

They won't update unless there is a reason and it's unlikely you would get 2660 anyway, if anything they would update if there was a specific problem and VW recommend updating.
Your dealer can change the region code as it will currently be set to region 2. Or someone with Vagcom/VCDS can do it.
oooh I'm a bit confused lol.... Is this new version an OEM version, or one that others have made up, if it's OEM then why isn't VW using it?
Stoney!
It's an OEM one.
They are using it on the new cars but it's very unlikely it will make it's way onto existing headunits under normal circumstances for a multitude of reasons.
- there is risk involved of bricking the unit
- it takes an hour
- 99% of people wouldn't care about the new features or know how to use them
- 99% of people would care if you deleted their music or changed their radio settings
Just read through this thread, burn't off the discs and then walked outside to remember the car is having its cat-back fitted and I don't collect it until tomorrow!!
Is there an installer who has done this before on a Tiguan who would do it for a price?
It's pretty strightforward, the installer is going to stick the disc in the drive the same way you would! And if it ends up as a brick they won't accept any responsibility anyway so you may as well do it yourself.

Yeah but what about the voice control? Don't you need wiring and a mic etc?
