Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • RSN510 with Built-in DAB tuner : firmware install (6276)

The purpose of this topic is to share the experience of those who own an RNS510 with integrated DAB Tuner.

Currently I have received a radio card with built-in TNT tuner and the associated motherboard. I installed them in the RNS510 in replacement.

I do not see the DAB option next to FM and AM in the "band" window.
So I try to update the firmware for it to appear. I note that the DAB tuner is currently not connected to an antenna.

The only firmware I can install is the 6276 that can be found on mygti.com

I tried almost all the other precedents, none works.
At the very beginning of the update procedure the screen attached (sorry for the wrong orientation) to this message indicates some information. In particular the list of models concerned by this firmware.
Out, we only see models in xxxx680.
    <img src="https://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/attachments/f78/47285-rsn510-built-dab-tuner-firmware-install-6276-a-dab-jpg" attachmentid="47285" alt="" id="vbattach_47285" class="previewthumb">

Models in 680 are not normally equipped with an integrated DAB tuner.
Models with this card have a number in xxx686 [letter]. The 68x corresponding to a material intended for Europe.
During the installation process, the DAB part appears as "to be updated, just after the GATEWAY.
But once the GATEWAY update, the RNS510 reboot and the DAB part is not processed.
It is noticeable when one does not see "DAB" in the window "BAND".
The conclusion would be that the firmware 6276 that I am trying to install is not made for the RNS510 with built-in DAB tuner.
Is it correct ? If so, where can you download a firmware that recognizes the built-in DAB tuner?
If no: what are we intended to do for in order that the firmware well recognized the DAB card inside the RNS510 before starting its process?
    An action with VCDS?
In the installation list of GATEWAY in VCDS, we see "Digital Radio". Should we activate it? Should an option be modified in the "Navigation" module or elsewhere?
    Thanks for your help.

As this is an Australian forum and the RNS510 is seriously out of date here with latest available map about 5 years old, most are retrofitting newer units .

Also DAB+ is not widely available in our large brown land where 90% of the people live in about 15% of the land area, so in the rest of it you need smoke signals LOL

      Just to tidy this up...

This was a RNS510 WIHTOUT DAB that had the DAB tuner board retrofitted.
In order for the firmware load to correctly load the required DAB files, the variant ID needs to be changed on the mainboard using a tool such as Setconfig.
Then use a factory firmware CD to completely load the firmware.
