I think the scale is fairly accurate. I have not tested it fully yet by putting some cones out and then reversing around and seeing if i hit them while trying to avoid them using the camera.

The scale remains fixed over the top of the video image.

Basically, when **** looks close its close! hehe.

I will test it by getting family members to stand in blindspots in my driveway and then reverse around a bit and get back to you guys.

It is definitely a cool feature though.

I already tell people "Oh that, thats my proximty warning. The car uses radar and if someone drives behind me it puts the video up"

I fitted another of the AVC 9000s today. I ended up getting these leads from a local car radio speciallist to get over the AM/FM twin aerial problem.
      It worked out fine!

So, you went 2 pieces of 1 fakra to 1 Din. Then a double din to single din?
i.e 3 leads? Nice. Didn't think of that combination.
I know advancedice do a double Fakra to single din, but they are out of stock.

well, just spoke to an installer at Strathfield car radios and he said the plus is pretty much only available from Stinger (?) and Advanced ICE and that it was about $100 and not worth it for AM.

Then he said one of the aerials is for AM and one for FM, so just work out the FM one and go for that. But elsewhere (either in this post or the other one) it said that it was VW's way of optimising the signal by using two aerials?

                I am confused....

I am getting the leads (3 sets) required this week. Should cost no more than $50.00 per set.

Let me know by say, Thursday, and I will get a set for you, and send them over...(of course P&H will be additional).

Letting you know now, I'd love a set. Thank you very much.

Will PM you my address and just let me know how to get you some cash plus p&h. thanks again mate, very appreciated.

btw, i am competent with a screwdriver and loving the idea the unit is basically plug'n'play but getting the dash and fascia off is a concern. Is this definitely do-able for a nooblet like me?

                      from all accounts...it is.

I just don't trust myself..which is why I have solicited help from other forum members here in WA. You may care to do the same.

I'll keep you posted re the supply and cost of the leads. Cheers

I searched hi and lo for them too, and could only see them at Advanced Ice. They did claim (last week) that they would have them in stock this week though.
Alternatively, you could go the way that GTIMK5 did in the above image.

Well I just fitted anothe one today. Phew! The reverse camera doesnt get a lot easier but its all good. Getting AM/FM ok with the lead setup that I showed earlier. The GPS antena works fine under the dash grill as it always has on my own car.
I managed to fit the antenna under the junk box on a TDI last week.

                          Cheers, Andrew

Andrew, I don't suppose you would have instructions or even pics of the rear cam install?
What panels need removal and routing?

Al, you need to remove the hatch cover, and partially remove the LHS window surround trim. The rubber tube has to be unclipped from the hatch and body on the LHS as does the lower rear trim to get to the lhs side shelf screw at the rear. I gently pulled this away from the body at the rear end only.
The rear pillar trim needs to be pulled away at thye 4rear end a bit. Gently feed some welding wire through the rubber tube from the hatch and pull the wire through that. tThen carefully run another piece of welding wire through the body down the LHS rear pillar. I mean carefully! Same with removing the trim pieces, careful.
When refitting the hatch cover, you will probably find some of the holding clips need to be removed from the hatch itself and refiited to the trim.
To do just the head unit would take only about an hour with setting up the GPS antenna but its the reverse camera that takes all the time!
The wiring instructions for the link wire are not very clear either....
Cheers and good luck with it!
