Discovery Media Plus into 2018 Caddy that came with standard radio

Hi guys

ive been scouring the web for hours and cannot find the info im after

my 2018 Caddy came with the standard Radio ( no car play Etc). i have have the opportunity to get a Discovery Media Plus unit cheap from a wrecked car, but the question is will it work? i know if the activation lock for carplay was not enabled i need to pay to get that from a dealer if im correct?

or does the whole unit not work at all because the car did not come equipped with it from factory? as im seeing heaps of these radios with a Hacked chip soldered onto the unit

There is no licence for navigation that you can buy
You can buy one for appconnect (carplay and android auto).
But if the unit is already activated you are better off preserving the activated features using the hardware patch.
