just as a follow up, found that my car had the wrong software installed for all the comfort and convenience control module, possibly could explain why certain things didn't happen when activated....

Hi everyone - I'm new to VW Polo ownership - is turning door and hatch auto lock something my local dealer can do on my Polo GTI or do I have to take it to a tuner with the VCDS package?

Dealer can do it (should be at no charge)

Got a few good ones here, especially for the GTI owners out there!

In VCDS Select Control Module, go to 03 ABS Brakes, then 10 Adaptation, go to Channel:

          Channel 09 Brake Assist
There are 3 settings for this
          0-center (stock setting)
          1-small
          2-hard

The stock setting is 0, change it to 2 and this makes the brake pedal more responsive to smaller inputs. Feels more positive in use, especially under enthusiastic motoring.

          Channel 36 XDS
          There are 3 settings
          0-center (stock setting)
          1-weak
          2-strong

Change this from 0 to 2 and this one mod alone apparently makes the Polo into a different/better beast under hard driving.
Seems more planted around bends and that much better to push through the corner on exit. This mod comes with a five thumbs up...

Nice work, gavs! Will you/ have you changed your software, given they installed the wrong stuff?

Also, is it just me? Isn't making 0 the middle setting on those controls ridiculous? Logically, 0 should provide weakest settings, 1 centre and 2 hard. That was my assumption when I read your braking thread in the Polo 6r section. Thanks for referring me here.

As with all VW's programming logic, Zero is always the default setting.

Yes, I had the proper software installed at another dealership, they are the ones that picked it up when I found I had mental climatronic.

hmmm...hooked the VCDS cable up today to the Polo.

                  Scan reports no Gateway!!!!
Can't access any of the modules (well I can, but comes back with the Windows based "BA-BOW" and a dialogue box that says No Gateway or similar)

I'm guessing it works fine with your Golf R32, which is also CAN based. I can only guess that your VCDS software is super old.

Tried doing it with the key set to acc?

Depends on which unit you have — MicroCan (which I have) doesn't work with Polo, only with the Golf MkV and later.

Polo (even the latest) uses an older system. I know of which I speak — tried it and failed.

Hex-Can @ about $100 more is supposed to work fine.

Yep...works with the R32. VCDS software is latest ex Ross-Tech. V11.11.3. Might try it with key at "ACC" as opposed to "IGN ON"

I have the Micro-CAN cable. Can't understand why it wouldn't work with a MY10.5 Polo (2010 6R TSI). the cable powers up when inserted in the socket (Green light comes on at CAN end).

If I have to buy another cable...then I pass.

Well I be, according to the Ross-tech guide you're correct. I knew the Polo 6R was based on the MK4 Golf but I assumed all the electronics would be up to Mk5+ spec seeing as it has MFD and whatnot.

                            Luckily I grabbed a Hex+Can one
