Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Always show gear in instrument cluster

Is there a VCDS hack to get my car to always display the current gear? I've got a 2015 manual and I've gotten very comfortable with it (so much so that all my bad driving habit from the auto days have come back...) but one thing I'd really like is for the instrument cluster to always display the current gear I'm in. It shows when I need to up or downshift, and then after a shift the current gear shows up for some time...but then at some point it disappears.

    Help?

Im of no help to your issue, but after owning a Mk6 R and Mk6 GTI (both manual) this annoyed me also. I always wanted it to show me what gear I was actually in, rather than what gear it thinks I should be in.

Hopefully one of the VCDS gurus on here might have some info for you.

For any future readers... doesn't look like it's possible. Oh well.
