ok... so i have fixed my problem

i bought a bracket which is typically known as the bracket from an ABF with no aircon. as valver mentioned earlier this came on a bunch of cars overseas, but didnt really make it to OZ.

this is a tidy little unit which allows the alternator to sit beautifully under the pump. no tensioner to hit on the mk1 chassis either!

    with my sexy new alternator!

    lines up nicely

now i need to chase down a short enough 6PK belt (around 915mm long)

I bought these from INA engineering in the states.

    found his info here

      I am here!

Wondering if Admin ever got my pm's.

Whatever the case we call it the "ABF" set up as that is what everyone in the US recognizes. If I called it the "2E" or "AAZ" non-ac serpentine set up then everyone would get lost in translation.

Thats a MKIV engine and the bracket is an uberexpensive unit from VWMotorsport...something in the vicinity of $550uS!

If you lads hold out a little longer,I will be doing a COMPLETE A-Z write up of ALL the serpentine belt configurations from anything before 1999...
Basically if you have an external water pump block and you WANT to convert to serpentine then this thread should be the one for you to read.
