No google? They have been around in the UK for over a decade. There's plenty of tuners out there, so check them all out.

Every tuner has fan boys. So asking for opinions you're always going to get bias. Not many guys have had tunes on the same vehicle from multiple tuners, so there's not lots of comments available there.

Most claim pretty much the same power, so there's nothing to split the tunes.

            Costs vary a little.

The more important metric is how you feel dealing with the tuners that you speak to. Do you feel valued as a customer, do they explain the process adequately to you. Do they make decent coffee while you wait.

If you want the best overall, that would be VW, no hassles.

This of course is the most important factor in making a decision Gav! LOL

As Gav says, most tunes are in the same ballpark performance wise, it then comes down to how comfortable you are with the people who sell and support the product.

              Cheers

Revo Tune on the Mk7 R is not as good as some others. Though that's a different car t what you have so you can't compare. Some tuners will spend more time in development and get a better result.

Maybe also consider the ability to switch between tune maps and how easy that is. (like if you can't get your hands on 98 octane on a road trip etc).

For my car at least, the Revo map was more boosty lower down whereas the APR tune was more linear despite both offering the same numbers. Stuff like that might help you guide your choice.

Yes 100% agree it's not about the peak number but how the car drives that matters.

Having had a switchable tune on my S3, I don't consider it a valuable feature. Only ever used it once and the std setting was shocking to drive.

The lack of 98 isn't that big a deal, all cars would run on lower octane fuel at reduced power for a short time. Until some 98 could be found. I have done plenty of road trips between Brisbane/Sydney/Adelaide/Melbourne and only once had to buy 95, because I tried to go one town further to maximise daylight.

                        My 2 cents

Yes I also had a switchable tune in my first Tig and never once used the function.

I have revo tune on my golf r mk7. Not as aggressive as APR but heaps cheaper and better dealer experience.

I'd just be checking who does a tune for your car. Most tuners have a file for a Golf R or GTI but not everyone does the lower power models as there's less call for it. The 1.8l 132TSI is similar to the engine in the Passat, however there's some differences. Golf has CJSB engine vs. Passat uses CJSA. It may be that the Golf is connected to 6 speed DSG vs Passat using the 7 speed... but I'm only guessing.
