Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Dyno Graph - Stock Tune vs APR Stage 1

    Hi guys,

Just wondering whether anyone has a dyno graph to show the stock tune versus the APR Stage 1- preferably for a 155 TSI Tig.
Otherwise, can someone advise of the torque and power gain after having the chip installed.

    Cheers,
    Luke.

      I second this.
It will be the same as the Mk6 GTI as well.

I have, but wanted to see actual forum members results on the 2.0 155 Tig.

Barely anyone does dyno's to verify power numbers, let alone Tiguan owners.

I didn't see the need because:
            1) it was already published on the web
            2) there are very few places that do an AWD dyno reading and most of them are fairly innacurate
            3) cost for something that is already pubished by the tuner.

I have had my Tiguan (when I still had it) dynoed as part of the APR Downpipe development.

Stg 1 resulted in 151kw atfw (which is bang on Mk6 GTI numbers) and Stg2 in 158kw atfw (downpipe fitted) and 161kw atfw with no rear silencer.

atfw = at the front wheels with 4motion disabled.

Yet to see verified numbers by any of the other tuners for a stock stg1 tune making more power out of a 2.0TSI Tiguan ......

Probably (hopefully) still have the dyno sheets at home, I'll check.

Stock 125/132kw numbers are ~100kw atfw and ~120kw atf for the 155kw Tiguans. Chipped 125/132 the performance bargain ....

                Nice result Sharkie.

Team V, the reason I asked is because I come from a Subaru background and I've always had my cars modified and tuned.
I know of plenty of AWD dyno's, but never heard of them being inaccurate. Readings can differ between dyno's tho, that's for sure.

I'm off to test drive a 2013 155 Tig this afternoon for the second time.

If we do buy one, chipping it won't be a priority - I was just wondering more or less how much of an improvement the ARP tune is compared to factory.

                Thanks all.

                Luke.

Not that the dyno is inaccurate more that plenty don't work well with the nature of the haldex system as it isn't permanent drive to the rear.

Most stage 1 tunes tend to give you a similar kw reading at the wheels to what your quoted flywheel figure is. What im trying to say is that most stage 1 GTI's i've seen will make around 150kw at the wheels (give or take 5kw) with a stage 1 tune (just software - no hardware changes). Add another 10-15kw for stage 2 software + hardware upgrades.

Same with Golf R's, most seem to make around 180-185kw with a stage 1 tune, which is only a few kw shy of their quoted factory flywheel figures of 188kw.

With a 4motion Tiguan, you would no doubt see a few kw less than a GTI due to the AWD drivetrain sucking up some of the power.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but somewhat relevant: Stage 2 results on a GTI: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...lts-76505.html

Do you think they were carried out on a dyno LOL

Have a look at the APR Facebook page - Harding Performance is working on a Tig (i believe its the 155) and posting its progress. Stage 1 tune just completed... Video available there to watch on dyno.

It's actually the 132 but same engine as 155 just different level of tune.

Great to see one of the tuners build a hot SUV. Will be really interested to see what level of performance they're able to make... and how fast it goes on the track.

Actually good dyno above on the GTI, and for comparision, here is our Tiguan 132 with the stage 1 flash only. You can see where Volkswagen pull the power back (CCZD engine code) and where the stock GTI 155kw (CCZB) version is.

End result is pretty much identical, and as always, repeatable. ~ 170kw at the front hubs.
