Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Ebay Mod Chips

    Hey again fellas,

Just wondering if anyone has tried or know anyone who has bought and tried one of the performance chips from ebay. $30 sounds a bit to cheap for my liking. Has anyone got any fairly cheap options for a Mod chip? Also while im on the topic does anyone know the whereabouts of the IAT sensor on a 2003 Bora 4motion Sport?

    Cheers
    Nathan

    $30 for a chip?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I have one of these in my Ibiza and have no complaints. Doesn't like anything but 98 octane though.

Yeah i had a feeling this was the case. The werid thing is they all have a good feedback and customers are happy with them! Weird, dont know if id trust a 30 dollar gadget on a $30000 car though. Im getting the cold air induction, KNN and 19's this week. And got the eyelids a few days ago. Very happy! Ill post some pics next week. Any ideas for the next mod to get a bit more grunt?

If your car worth $30000, why not just spend another $30 to have a try, I suppose it won't kill your car

                What to make a bet!

My friend's dad blown senator crapped itself because of a poor quality mapped chip from a leading oz chip tuner that was made to suit the blown setup.

                That's an expensive gamble.

Also remember that these chip's from oversea's are not mapped for OZ condition's, altitude, weather, fuel etc.

                  mapped??

For $30 your getting a fancy resistor in some packaging, wires attached and some instructions on how to install it.

Basically it causes the stock sensors to read difference which then makes the stock ECU advance your timing add more fuel and air which should gain more power (or something like that).

Shouldn't do any harm, but then do you really want to take the gamble.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Any $30 modification to your ECU is dodgy, I think. Correct me if I am wrong, please!!!!
