The average dyno print outs AFR is generally quite inaccurate as well unless they are taking the reading from OBD.

I come to that conclusion by logging data on an actual car using the actual probe that the ECU reads from. Ive seen some tailpipe probes that are wildly inaccurate compared to the target & actual AFRs. Just have a look at some of the results from the recent Sydney dyno day.Originally posted by ido09s View PostHow do you come to that conclusion Tim?
Are you saying the probe up the tail pipe has no idea whats happening? but the OBD does......
There can be other factors as well. Cant back it up with specific experiences but I have a suspicion that the cars with flapper controlled exhaust paths can play havoc with some of the readings too. Especially if a dyno operator shoves the probe up the wrong tip.
Are you suggesting that in your experience the probes are faultless?

I wont say faultless as you would need to be replacing the probe at ridiculous intervals and they are way to expensive to do that, but provided the operator knows what he is doing then the probe should read fine. I cant recall how often we changed our probes but the cars we tuned were normally track cars running 25+psi of boost and making 400rwkw+. If the probe was that innacurate the engines wouldnt last as long as they did.
You are right, flapper valves do play games, as do twin tail pipes, but provided you know its there you can work around it. Your best be is normally the dump pipe but thats not always excessible. If we had cars that were constantly being raced and tweaked we would get bungs welded into the exhaust and screw the sensor in as close to the motor as we could get. Thats pretty extreme though and not something you would expect everyone to do. We had our dump pipe manufacturer provide 2 versions of dump pipes, one with the screw fitting and one without. It was something like $15 more to get the fittings welded on but did make it easierLast edited by ido09s; 07-06-2012, 10:54 AM.

Be careful everyone about promises. Can you infact share them I've heard that before....Originally posted by Candyman View PostI've got those curves now, for my use and who I can share with.
I've offered to share new info I hope to have this weekend with those that have respected private messaging (guys, will let you know).
Candyman, my last engagement with you on this.. Nothing in your PM needed to private. I thought a few times about putting it in, but in the end, you are the one who forced me to by your false claims. If your PM contained other peoples names or handles or contacts etc, they would not have been included and edited out or the message would not even been posted by me. I'm not that shallow or disrespectful as you again assume I am.
Every one knows there chip wars out there and certain people attack other tunes, i dont know why because its personal opinion and choice. All i wanted is info on a tune to help make an informed decision.MY12 Golf R | 5 Dr | Candy White | DSG | 19"Black Talladegas | ACC | RNS510 SATNAV | Sunroof | RVC | BT | MDI

I may have used the incorrect words above by saying "the average dyno". That might have been an exaggeration.
But Ive definately seen a few crazy ones so wont ever trust them 100%. As mentioned even the recent mainline dyno spat out some questionable results. You would hope that the dyno operator there knew what they were doing.

Check your PM's. Interested, not sure about Custom Code though, haven't put much research into this. Can anyone provide any comments who has been through CC.Originally posted by h100vw View PostI have VCDS logs of a Phase 1 Custom-Code R if you want to look.
This was the first run which has a slight spike, which was written out with a second file.
PM me an email if you would like to see them. My offer is conditional that this thread doesn't become a chip war.
If Greg or Simon request information removing, I will comply as a Moderator and software provider.

Plenty of good feedback with CustomCode on Polo GTI's, Golf GTI's and TDI's etc. I did consider them about this time last year but they hadnt done an R yet (at that stage) in Aust which put me off a bit. But now it looks like they have done some development on them over in the UK.Originally posted by San Gimignano R View PostCheck your PM's. I spend time on a few UK forums and they do have a good name.Originally posted by Lucas_R View PostPlenty of good feedback with CustomCode on Polo GTI's, Golf GTI's and TDI's etc. I did consider them about this time last year but they hadnt done an R yet (at that stage) in Aust which put me off a bit. Haven't seen any R results, but I'd imagine they would be solid.Audi S3. Sold

Oh the fukcing irony of it all. HEEELLLLLOOOOOOOO. A PM, that is, a Private Message, is by definition meant to be private. How the mods let this goose slip with that ***** is beyond me.Originally posted by San Gimignano R View PostNothing in your PM needed to private.Golf R - 77TSI engine transplant, 91ron tune, & a crochet rug on the parcel shelf

Got CC tune but on a TDI so tune feedback is probably not relevant to you, but I can vouch for Gavin's service 100%. Also CC just recently developed the Golf R tune, there's a vid of the CC Golf R with ECU Phase 1 + DSG Phase 1 and zero hardware mods doing 0-100 in 4.13 seconds, I thought that was really impressiveOriginally posted by San Gimignano R View PostCheck your PM's. Other than that do some forum research but anyway CC has quite a reputation in the UK. Of relevance to you, they recently did a VW Cup Scirocco with their Phase 3 Motorsport map
check here (their website is going through an overhaul atm):
