Good work Josh. Finish line's just around the corner.

Are you copying my old flat, faded, miss matched painted & primered paneled silver beater

Hopefully I'll have mine done just after your's is on the road. Plenty of time to iron out the bug's for the road trip.

Well sorry to say that I reckon they'll never be for sale unfortunately. I like them way too much.

I don't blame you! I love them too, Once of the best rims for a mk 1 imo, not overstated or flashy, but just right.

Josh, have you tuned the carb yet? is it still idling real low?

bumped the idle up a bit, still a bit low so ill work on it soonish, gotta get that rocker cover gasket cos it just spits oil everywhere if i run it too long.

Get the updated one piece rubber gasket if you can. I got mine from germanautoparts. Here's a link http://www.germanautoparts.com/Volks...t/Engine/102/1

You have to change the studs but that only takes 5 minutes. No gasket goo required just bolt it up.

I got a similar one for the sump, but I should have gotten the windage tray. Hmmm .. next order I think.

Does it matter that that gasket is for a diesel pete?

How out of tune is it? Do you know someone down there that can tune webers? Was the carby originally off a goof and tuned for that?

yup its originally off a Golf i got a new rubber gasket for the seal between the Weber and the manifold. its not that badly out of tune really, it starts very easily and runs fine, fine tuning is definately in order though.
