Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

yea, good fun yesterday. didn't actually take too long to pop the engine in really, spent alot of time fiddling around with other smaller things, like the basterd exhaust that would come off and small things like that.

should be singing by next weekend, if not earlier.

                    UPDATE!
running on 4 cylinders but more niggles are presenting themselves but that is expected.

got one of the driveshafts in, but the RHS inner CV joint is knackered so a new one is required along with a rocker cover gasket cos its leaking oil when the car runs.

the temp gauge works but until i have the CV replaced and the like i cant test if it will overheat on a drive.

here's a teaser on borrorwed wheels

i cant say im liking the ride height atm, needs to be alot lower

but if anyone knows where i can get some bottlecaps let me know!

                      Goodwork in getting it going.

I`d roadtest it with a flogged cv and an oil leak and see what else needs fixing, then come home and make it great.

i cant drive it with the buggered CV because it wont move up and down so something will break if i put it on, ill buy a rocker cover gasket and CV then give it a flog and see what else is playing up should be this weekend hopefully
