Yeah not bad. I get trade discount which rocks.

But I used a couple of gift vouchers for this so i'm not sure what it actually cost me. Shelf price for the gauge is $45.75..

carby stuff is new to me, but when you talk about the FPR, is it PSI or Bar?
Carby runs significantly lower fuel pressure than EFI?

A 4Bar FPR is the norm for EFI boosted engines (~60psi bit less), but this is from 1-4 psi??

      • webbers like about 3.5psi..... i think? I'm sure preeny will correct me.

Correct, dude. Anywhere from 3-5. No more if you can help it. You only need enough to supply sufficient volume to fill the float bowl(s).

Fuel pressure on carburetted engines does not alter the mixture or atomisation. Air velocity, float level and jet size covers those bits.

I got the FPR with the gauge and everything sorted today. Pics tomorrow.

              No worries dude.

Most people don't realise how complicated carburettors actually are. I may come across as knowing a fair bit about them, but in reality, i'm like a 3rd year apprentice.

              • Perhaps basic operation is a bit easier to grasp.
I'm sure you don't explain jetting in 30 secs though...

Are you asking for a basic explanation? I'll dig up some info and add some extra bits to it to make as much sense as possible if you do so wish....

I just dropped in and saw a good panel beater friend of mine. I'll be taking the Golf 'round to him for firewall repairs late next week. Awesome.
