  • Hmm.. So what do I do now? I know! Start cleaning up all the brake linkages!

I washed most of the bits in the parts washer, as they were all covered in sticky, cruddy grease.. The into the sand blaster to get the crap and black paint off them..

After that, a wipe with thinners and start priming..

I also filed rads on all the corners of the cross brace and removed some burrs. I think it looks much neater now. And for the 5mins it took it was well worth it..

    All the bits primed..

I've painted the brackets with epoxy wheel paint..

I'll paint the linkages black I think, but that's a job for tomorrow!

I'll probably try and catch up with an old panel beater friend to get some tips on repairing the firewall too.. Nothing like a bit of educated help!!

      • My only concern about removing the rain tray and roadworthy/blue slip issues, is that it blocks off the fresh air/blower air source from the engine bay. and without it, you'd get fumes into the cabin. Are you going to run the fan/blower/heater still?

Other than that, good to see you're getting (really) stuck in!

Props for taking the time and making every nice and neat too!

        • You have to have a heater/fan for road worthy. I might rig something up to the bonnet vents, yet.. We'll see.

As I said previously my rain tray had been hacked up and didn't seal anyways..

          • Did a heap of little things today.

Painted all the brake linkages. Blasted and painted the wipers. Painted the booster and assembled it with the M/C. Got some more sound deadening off the firewall.. Bitch of a job! haha.

I know the booster has a dint, but what are you going to do? I masked up the OEM part number sticker and left it on there. Keeps it looking that bit more factory-esque i think.

                • Got some more done..

Blasted the starter motor (diesel). This week i'll take it to my auto elec mates and get them to freshen it up for me..

Painted a few front and rear engine mount bits..

And finally, I degreased and pressure washed the gearbox. Then taped and plugged it all up and into the sand blaster.. Didn't come up too bad.

Once I've got the diff bolts fitted and it's all back together, i'll give it some flat black treatment.

                  • Having a blaster close by is supremely cool!

Motivates me for a bolt rebuild one day.

                              $99.00 for both. Sweeeeet.
