Nope.
A while back i got some water down in the fuseboard which caused the wipers to go nuts. I checked the fuel pump relay the other day and there was some pretty gnarly corrosion there and i thought i'd found my problem.
Anyway, roccodingo sorted another CE2 fusebox for me and after putting it in last night it has done four fifths of f#@*all.
Car is still misfiring and carrying on under load.
Then i disconnected the coilpack harness and found some cracked wires. I tried to fix them up and put a full set of coilpacks in just to make sure.
I'll test drive it tonight...-1990 Mk2 GTI 5-door with AMK 20vt (260hp @ wheels)

There's an old trick to see if your misfire is caused by faulty/worn sparkplug leads. Have a look under the bonnet in the dark with the engine running but no lights on, not even a streetlight. A dark garage works best. In the dark it's pretty easy to see any stray sparks jumping from the leads to something else.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html

yep a good trick! I'd forgotten that one. Obviously there's no spark leads here but you can probably do the same with a split coil pack harness.
BUUT, ITS FIXED!!!!After months of frustration its finally back to it's bangin' old self!
I changed the coil packs and taped up some of the suspect wires at the same time so i dunno which it was that was causing the issue, but right now i dont care!!
One difference is the violence of the off-throttle boost purging. I think its just because i've deleted all the stupid breather tubes, vacuum pipes, pcv stuff etc so there's nothing to absorb the pressure from the system (i havent put a catch can in yet, its just going into the air!!). But more on that later...
So back for a remap soon.
Thanks for the suggestions ppl
Now i can crack on with the engineering certificate...-1990 Mk2 GTI 5-door with AMK 20vt (260hp @ wheels)

Been doing a few jobs in the lead up to racewars this weekend. New Ate discs all round with greenstuff front pads. I did the mk4 rear caliper conversion so I can use the later type rear pads. Now I have Ate ceramic pads on the rear too, as well as the goodridge braided hoses all round.
Back on the dyno tomorrow for a fine tune...

Here's a random pic of the last car i'll be wrecking for a long time (too many spares and not enough room!). I now have most of the parts i want to tidy up the trim & bodywork, as the silver GTI was low k's and really tidy.
And here's the corroded fusebox! As i said before, it wasnt the cause of my misfire but it certainly needed replacing!!!

Pretty happy with that. Running a peak of 19psi boost and hovering at around 17psi most of the time.
So, as you can see, approx 255bhp at the front wheels @ 6000rpm, torque peaking at around 270lb/ft @ 3500rpm. A nice smooth torque curve too.
Just put the catch can in. Just gotta finish off the hosing. Pics coming...-1990 Mk2 GTI 5-door with AMK 20vt (260hp @ wheels)

Nice numbers - lots of usable power between 3500 and 6500. Must be really sweet to drive when you've got 3000 rpm as your window to play with.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html
