Decided that I will be putting the VR6 in straight away, but to source another head to do work on.

Had some time to start stripping the Bora

            Won't be needing this

Interior swap - steering wheel, handbrake and a-pillars to be completed

Hoping I can get the engine + gearbox out this weekend

Got the engine/gearbox, gearbox linkages and clutch pedal/lines out over the weekend.
One driveshaft has split an inner CV boot but it was not clunky when driving so a new boot should do the trick.

I've always wished they sold the VR6 Mk4 in Aus, a pipe-dream of mine is to swap a V6 into mine, so glad to see someone actually doing it. Is the V6 coming from a local 4motion? Gonna watch this with interest, keep up the good work!

Engine is out of my Bora. It had 135,000kms on it before being removed.

Is there anyone out there who could offer advice with what engine parts I'm going to need? Or etka diagram references?
I can provide pictures of everything I've got

Got some time today to start cleaning things, awaiting ECS order for new thermostat housings, etc. before assembling.
I expect to take the Golf off the road sometime within the next few weeks.

                        Looking good there...

If you were closer to me, I would have loved to have removed the unwanted V5 + wreck...
Hmmm, must keep an eye out for a wreck close to home... lol.

Decided to pull the valve cover off the v5 a few nights ago for a geez, I was pretty shocked at how clean the internals were at 280,000km.
                          Should make a nice ornament

Seperated the v5 and gearbox - man do I have some cleaning to do or what.. Not sure how I'll tackle it yet...I should be good with a decent degreaser, hot water and a wire brush.

I cleaned a few places to see what the surface should look like with AutoSmart's 'Wheel King', pretty strong stuff but it's a big no no around plastics.

Going to rebuild the starter while I've got easy access - can't hurt and at least I can give it a good clean.
Will also be re-doing all the CV boots.

                            V5 becoming less and less.

                            I believe I need to use the 02J flywheel & clutch - the 02M flywheel & clutch is a good 20mm thicker.

Yeah maybe, done a quick Google search but couldn't seem to find an industrial strength one to hire - mainly get carpet cleaning results. Same thing yeah?
