Thanks lads, took it around block a couple times today. You can hear the turbo spool up loud as hell with just a bit of throttle. On low boost it loses traction in 1st and a bit in 2nd. Havent tried high boost yet.

Low revs(idling) is a bit ruff but higher up its fine. Its booked in for the exhaust on Tuesday morning.

Will plug in the MBE interface later to play around with the software a bit.

    Cheers

ahaha - i was waiting for how long it would take...

not sick mate just wondering of the conversion posibilites - i mean i know any conversion is possible with the right $$$ but bang for buck a b16/b18 could but a good option, huge after market support locally, many engine builds to look at etc..etc..

I persoanlly wouldn't do this but then again im not the kinda person so stray from the brand.

not a good option cause it doesn't fit. the money time you spend mucking around putting in a stnadard engine, you could put a turbo ABF 16V 2.0L in make twice the power, without building up a sweat!

Ha ****. Not sure if it's the B-series engines, but one of them spins the other way. As in, you'd have the gearbox on the drivers side.
There's a few K-swapped MK1's in the US, but you pretty much would only do it if you're Asian.

It does though, there are a couple floating about over here as well, the engine and box are backassward(1.6/1.8 and 2.0 all sit with the box on the lhs of the bay as you look in) and the runs I seen on the rolling road sounded nice but for the power you could easily do an NA ABF to match and run all over the torque figures into the bargain. A 20vt in a tin top mk1 for the track is in my future, nice reading your progress

Spoke with Ben from Qpeng and I need a oil pressure switch to match warning light. Can anybody confirm which pressure switch mk1 8v's use? 1.4 or 1.8bar?

I bought a oil pressure switch for the earlier model VW's but the light still stays on. I need one thats normally closed and operates at 1.4-1.8 bar. The one i got now is normally open and the light is off when you switch the ignition on but goes on when you start it. Anybody know where i can find such a switch?

                  Thanks

Mate what was the original engine code? I'll have a look at work.
Btw, I dont have a high pressure oil switch at all on mine yet. Not only does it flash constantly, but it makes an ear-piercing buzzing sound!!!

Hey Wade, Cant remember the engine code but the old 1.6 engine only had one switch on the cylinder head which is low pressure and normally open. The switch on top of the AGU oil filter housing is a high pressure one thats normally closed.
I need a low pressure one from the mk1's. Would you have one in stock?

                      Thanks
